Horses & Hounds — Attraction in Granby

I can’t speak to the actual grooming but 0 stars for attitude. My dog came to get groomed and I let the receptionist know that he does not do well with other large dogs. The staff at the groomer tried to put him in a temporary corral as opposed to a crate. I spoke up that this didn’t seem safe for my dog because he could climb over or jump out and that I’d prefer him to be crated so he’s safe from other dogs. Both the staff and the owner treated me like I was being unreasonable or some kind of jerk for not consenting for him to be kept in such a way. When the customer behind me asked what was taking so long I said I was waiting for them to have a crate for him bc he wouldn’t be secure in what they suggested, the owner came out to tell me to stop talking bad about her employees. I’m not really sure if this was an off day for them or something but it was an incredibly negative interpersonal interaction and I won’t be going back to this groomer. Called to see if they had raw frozen pork cat food, Primal. She said they gad 1 bag left. She held it for me to pick up yhe next day. I live 40 minutes away from horse and hound. It's very difficult for me to find this food. I drive there and purchased other things. The food was $20.00 and the rest I purchased when I got there. When I got home I placed it in the freezer. When it came time to feed my kitten I noticed the expiration date was 7/2022. I called and was told it must have gotten mixed-up with the other freezer. It was the last bag. They wouldn't get anymore in until Thursday. I told her to just refund my purchase. She said I needed to bring the bag in and my receipt with the card to get a refund. I told her I guess I have no choice. I will bring it back one day this week but it will be the First and LAST TIME I will be a customer at the store. She said ok. They don't care about animals. I am amending my review. I used the self serve on 10/7/12 and what a difference! Apparently they have a new groomer and the room was immaculate. I was giving it one more chance before finding another source but they are only 15 min away and so convenient. 5 stars now!

The self service dog wash used to be great but now they have a groomer and it is only open for self serve on Sunday. The Sunday I went the place was FILTHY, not one clean apron, the tubs were caked with hair, even the spray hoses were covered with hair. The grooming tables were dirty as well and the smell of the room was awful. The shampoo was watered down so much it was useless.
