Wow! Cool little museum packed with a lot of artifacts! I loved seeing the old Bible, the old maps of Grantsville with my grandpa's name on it as a city councilman, the old jail, and especially the authentic pioneer wagon. Oh and the "Mormon crickets!" My kids had a good experience and were fascinated by the black smith shop and old cabin. We stopped in on Memorial Day. It was open, no appointment needed. There is a public restroom in a small building outside, too.

Phone numbers are listed to call for a tour of the museum. We stopped by on impulse so we just looked around the outside. Interesting and a piece of the Donner story that we didn't know. If you happen to be in Grantsville, it would take just a few minutes to see the outside of the museum, cabins, wagons and to read the plaques. There are Donner party and Indian artifacts inside the museum that we would one day like to see.

Really neat little historical museum in Grantsville. Fascinating artifacts from the early pioneers and settlers as well as native Americans. There are some interesting structures and old wagons on the property as well. Craig was our guide and he was a gifted story-teller and so interesting to listen to, very knowledgable.

About a year ago I found out that this museum was going to be open to the public memorial Day weekend and I marked it on my calendar. Normally you have to make an appointment to take it to her. Took my wife's son in law and daughter out there. Love the ride out. The guides at the museum were outstanding with their knowledge of the donor party and showing us the various artifacts that have been gathered over the years. This is a real treasure and would recommend anyone getting together a group or a family and make an appointment to go see it. Even the outside has some interesting exhibits so even if you don't have an appointment and you're in the area...
