The Zippin Pippin is one of the oldest existing wooden roller coasters in the United States. It was initially constructed in the former East End Park in Memphis, Tennessee, in either 1912, 1915, or 1917 by John A. Miller and Harry C. Baker of National Amusement Devices. The wooden roller coaster that Elvis Presley made famous in the 1970s at Libertyland in Memphis, Tennessee, was said to be the rock 'n' roll legend's favorite. One of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the country, Bay Beach acquired it in 2010 and opened it to its visitors in 2011. It has been making people scream with delight for $1 a ride ever since.

Caught the last ride with my sister and had a blast. My sister used to hate roller coasters, but after the Zippin Pippin (and a little bit of coercing from me of course) she has come to love them. The final up-and-down is a bit jerky and uncomfortable and the brakes are sudden and harsh especially if you arent braced for them but this does not take away from the overall excitement of the ride.

Did not go on the Zipping Pippin, but there are rides open just a few not, both trains are open, Ferris wheels are open, bumper cars not open as with the big slide, not that busy considering it is a holiday weekend. For most rides there is a little wait for disinfecting, usually 10 minutes for most. Of course picture is not the Pippin, just showing the disinfecting.

Bay Beach is a great experience particularly for grade school and middle school age kids. The park is well kept, clean and well attended. Great for the grandparents too. You can pick and choose what rides are best for your group and easily move around the park. Parking is also plentiful. And if the lot is filling up you can drop off at the entrance and the driver can go park the car. There is no charge for parking, no park entrance fee, you purchase generic tickets that can be used on all rides. The tickets are pretty cheap too. Unused tickets can be used on future visits even used next year. Very friendly workers are well trained careful and...

This is my favorite ride at Bay Beach Amusement Park! I rode it for 6 tickets ($1.50) so it was pretty cheap to ride and I don't like spending a ton of money so that was good. I sat in the back of the roller coaster which is the BEST place to sit in a roller coaster. I loved everything about it. The drops, the airtime, and the speed. I would ride this for hours straight like Elvis if I could lmao. I am gonna be riding this every time I come to Bay Beach until the day I die. It's THAT good. Amazing ride and I totally would recommend for others who have never ride the...
