Conestee Nature Preserve is a great park, much more than I was expecting. I showed up on a rainy, dreary Tuesday afternoon, but quickly forgot about the weather and enjoyed my time exploring. They have trails ranging from 1.2 miles to 3 miles, so there is something for every level. They have asphalt trails, dirt trails, bridges, and boardwalks over wetlands. The park is well maintained and very peaceful. There is a large variety of wildlife all over the park. I saw many different types of birds, as well as hawks, fish, squirrels, and frogs. There is a big lake where many beavers live, and you can see evidence of them from the gnawed tree stumps and piles of branches near the edge of the water. I would recommend Racoon Run for an easy, 1.2 mile, pretty flat trail that has a lot to see. There is also a baseball park at Conestee, but the nature trails are tucked behind it. I would highly recommend Conestee Nature Preserve. It is the perfect place to get away from the stress and chaos of life and just relax and...
Read moreGreat place to get some fresh air with almost anything you want to do outdoors. Huge kids playground area for all ages, massive gazebo for parties or just having lunch at a table, and trails, trails, trails. Lots of different hiking trails across the Conestee nature preserve area ranging from a quick stroll to a few hours and miles of prepared trails. Also, this is a wonderful place for dog lovers as they have a very large fenced dog park, and the park is dog friendly for leash walks or playing catch on one of the numerous carpet like grass fields. The most impressive of the features is how meticulously clean, well manicured, and constantly maintained park in its entirety. Clean and stocked bathrooms, clean eating area, and have never seen an overflowing park trashcan. Five stars solidly for all the possibilities for leisure and the price of maintenance. Spend an hour or spend a day, you can do either while not costing you a...
Read moreThis park is great if you want to get off the interstate and let your mind chill in all the green, the songs of the birds, and the sounds of your foot steps walking down the forest paths. However, you can still hear the sounds of the city around you. The roar of engines, the constant sound of the highway, etc. And thus park’s topography and scenery does not compare to another nearby park a little farther off the interstate. I would recommend Paris Mountain State Park , there there are beautiful vistas where you can see for many miles and miles of beautiful hills in green, no sounds of any highways or roaring engines. There are gentle paths long lakefronts, said there are strenuous hikes up the mountain. I’m taking advantage of this park while I’m here, but next time I’ll try to remember not to come to this park unless I am really, really pressed for time....
