Parking on the side of the street. Long enough for about 4 or 5 cars. Nice lil walk up a semi steep hill. I was able to trek it with a healing fractured foot. Neat lil castle. We walked around and I imagined the use of it. Then I wondered the name of the person who built it. A Sir George came up.. but then I said no... Sir William... looked it up... and his name was infact General William Bancroft lol... weird! Wood in the fireplaces ready to be used! It's also said that the hill behind the castle was used as a hanging site.......
Read moreSuch a cute trail and castle! If you're nearby I would suggest stopping by. The hill is a bit of a hike but it doesn't last long. You can park in the large parking lot of the Gibbet Hill Grill. If there is an event going on take the 'path' closest towards the road to go around the pond. You might even see some cows! There is a trail that leads you around the back side of the castle to the other side of it. Which was nice and fun. I suggest this if you just like walking or if you wanted to...
Read moreScenery beautiful but there was a big crowd. Went on a Saturday afternoon, parking was very busy, trails were packed, hundreds of people there. But nothing could take away from the fall colors and picturesque landscape that reveals itself at the end of the path. It's roughly 10-15 minutes walk from the restaurant parking, cross the rolling meadow, along the road, uphill, past the castle to the cattle gate marking the viewpoint.
