Pismo Beach offers a unique and exciting experience for beachgoers, with Pismo State Beach and the adjacent Oceano Dunes State Recreational Vehicle Area allowing vehicles on their expansive 8-mile stretch of beach and dune areas. This adds an extra layer of adventure and convenience for visitors.
The best time to enjoy the drivable beach and dunes is during low tide when the conditions are optimal. It's an opportunity to explore the sandy expanses and feel the thrill of driving along the coastline. However, it's important to observe the speed limit of 15 mph and stay on the hard-packed sand to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
By following these guidelines, visitors can fully embrace the freedom and excitement of driving along Pismo Beach while minimizing the risk of getting stuck in soft sand or encountering any difficulties. It's an exhilarating activity that allows for a unique perspective of the beach and dunes.
In addition to the drivable areas, Pismo Beach also offers a variety of other recreational opportunities, such as swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing. The beach's vast expanse provides ample space for relaxation and leisure activities, making it an ideal destination for families, groups of friends, or anyone seeking a coastal getaway.
The combination of vehicle access, stunning natural surroundings, and the thrilling experience of driving along the beach and dunes makes Pismo Beach a truly special destination. Whether you choose to explore the drivable areas or simply enjoy the beauty of the shoreline, Pismo Beach offers a one-of-a-kind beach experience that is sure to leave you with...
Read moreCame here with family yesterday. We had been here once before, and it was busier than I remember.

There is noise from vehicles driving by, smoke from people’s fires, and loud music. It can be difficult to enjoy the shore or the view, as cars pass through frequently. There wasn’t much to admire, though, since the beach was foggy. The restrooms are also inadequate. There’s not enough of them, and there was no toilet paper or area to wash your hands. Of course, they are also dirty. I recommend going to the restroom before or after your visit.
As for my compliments, the entrance fee was a very affordable $5. The water is so blue and the sand was soft. There is a lot of space for every group to have their own area to play, eat, relax, fish, etcetera. It’s a more secluded beach rather than a city beach, if that’s what you...
