Visited the ruins of this old Fuerte Capron while in Guanica. It's about a mile hike over a rocky path. There were several clearings to check the view along the way. Most visitors will enjoy that you can walk around, through, and up into the top of the tower. Breathtaking views of the bay and town below. Recommend wearing good shoes to keep your footing as you traverse loose stones and a relatively steep incline along the way. We took the path from the road that goes to the fort at the peak. Read moreThe view from up here and the views from the hike up are breathtaking. We used the roadside trailhead south of here by the turnoff to Playa Jaboncillo for a shorter steeper hike (2.5 miles rt vs 6). The trail is mostly well marked and you'll see plenty of gorgeous birds, lizards, views of Guanica, the bay, and the ocean to the south. The fort tower itself is heavily vandalized unfortunately but it still provides an incredible view of the surrounding area. Wear good shoes, take plenty of water and a hat. The trail is rocky and steep and there's almost no shade...
