The organization and management for Friday April 12th Trevor Noah show was non-existent. Due to their utter mismanagement my family and I missed half the show. I had ordered five tickets the day they went on sale on November 14th for a Christmas gift for my family (wife, sister, 78 year old father, 72 year old mother). My mother has had three knee replacements and finds it difficult going up and downstairs, so I paid a lot extra to be on the floor for her. It was a lot of money for me, but it was the one Christmas present I got for them.
I knew that doors opened at 7:00 pm and I wanted to get there early so it would be easier for my mother to get in without a lot of people coming in. We met for dinner at the Hangar at 5:45 pm and left for the Mullins Center at 7:05. The Hangar is 1.2 miles from the Mullins Center. We took two vehicles. One carrying my parents and my sister with a handicapped placard and the other with my wife and I. It took an hour and ten minutes to park. We were able to park at 8:15 pm, 15 minutes after the show was supposed to start. My parents were able to park close to the venue in the handicapped parking, but when they asked where they should enter the building they were told they had to walk to the end and wait in the line which was at least a half mile long. Parking in the handicapped spot actually made my handicapped mother walk further than just parking in a regular spot. We then waited in that line for over an hour while I held my mother's arm so she wouldn't fall. The event staff by the line were telling people the show was going to be delayed and wasn't going to start until after 9 pm.
We entered the building at approximately 9:15 pm. By the time we were escorted down the elevator and got to our seats it was exactly 9:32 pm and Trevor Noah's set was half way over. The staff who escorted us to our seats and then back to the elevator after the show could not have been nicer. So I really appreciated that.
I had to essentially hold up my mother while waiting in line and then while walking out because she was in so much pain and was so tired. She was unable to leave the house the next day because of this. This was a really, really big deal for me to be able to take my family to see Trevor Noah and was the biggest Christmas gift I have ever given and for it to turn out so badly I feel so awful. If I knew that this event was going to be such a catastrophe I wouldn't have bought tickets and I would have stayed home. This was the worst logistically planned event I have ever been to.
When I reached out to the Mullins Center with my complaint I received a stock email response from Bryan Shearon the Box Office Manager where it was clear he had not bothered to read my email or offer an apology. His response was to say that they "appreciate your feedback regarding entrancing procedures during the event Friday" and that "We pride ourselves on providing a superior guest experience." Entrancing procedures is a laughable euphemism for being so extremely disorganized and mismanaged that the performer had to push back the start of his show by an hour and still not all the paying ticket holders were inside the building. I will continue to express my dissatisfaction to the Mullins Center, Bryan Shearon, and Comcast Spectacor/Spectra until I receive...
Read moreThe Mullins Center is an excellent sports arena. It is great for watching both basketball and hockey. Sight lines are good from all the seats. No obstructed views anywhere in the stadium. Capacity for basketball is a little under 10,000. Rarely do that many people show up, making it a laid back and relaxing place to see a game. . The arena is exceptionally clean and easy to get around. The video board is one of the largest and best I have seen in any arena. There are plenty of crowd entertainment activities during breaks from the action. The national championship banner from the 2021 UMass National Champion Hockey team can be seen in the rafters. Make sure to see the retired numbers of basketball greats Julius Irving and Marcus Camby. The food sold at the concession stands is exceptional. Arguably, the best you can get at any stadium. There is a team merchandise/NIL store located in the arena. Prices at the concession stand and merchandise store are one par with most other stadiums. Parking is very easy and free. There is only a small walk to the stadium after parking. Tickets are affordable and can be purchased online. With their online tickets, some of the seats that are located further away from the court are not for sale. If you want you can move to these seats, without a problem. Definitely, a nice comfortable arena that any sports...
Read moreIts always great to see any sports played live. The Mullins Center was a gr8 experience the two times I attended. Both basketball games nail bitters n one went into double overtime. Money well spent in my eyes with a longer game. Not to mention the Minutemen were victorious in both. Having great thoughts of ones self for choosing two great ball games where each side could have won at any given moment. With all of that said. Only downfall of watching live was. Officials made some calls that left audience confused on calls made n why it turned out the way they did. My last complaint would be the main screen display. Whoever controling this needs to work on replays of great plays ending or not ending with points. Show replays of all fouls flagerant or not. For example home team player called for a foul n while he so called fouled other player was elbowed in the face. Which seemed to be a deliberate elbow thrown by the fouled player. A replay could have shown audience what officials saw first hand. All in all discovering where the best seats lie to see the best up front action n overall view of court action is an adventure all in its own. Ive discovered the perfect seating for myself. Come support your local college basketball team n discover your own perfect up front action n best overall view of court seating for yourself. Go...
