We had never visited this park before, but our young son was eager to go fishing. As we arrived, we noticed several rules posted on the signs and spotted a man driving a Gator cart who was watching us closely. It made us feel uneasy, but since our son was permitted to fish, we decided to proceed. The man approached us and said, "Hey, you know he can fish, but you can't." We assured him that we were aware and had only brought one fishing rod. We brushed it off and continued with our visit.
However, the man kept driving around on the Gator, monitoring us, which was increasingly uncomfortable. When our son took a break from fishing, my partner brought out his remote-controlled rock-crawling car to explore the surrounding woods. The man on the Gator confronted my partner, yelling that he couldn't have the remote control car there. My partner asked where it mentioned that in the rules, as we had thoroughly read the signs and found nothing prohibiting it.
The man continued to be confrontational and aggressive, which understandably upset my partner. Despite his claims, the man struggled to provide any evidence of the supposed rule and even called someone he claimed was his boss to justify his stance. The argument escalated, and feeling that the situation was untenable, my family and I decided to pack up and leave. We will not be returning to this park...
Read moreSuch a pretty community park. Has a nice playground, swings, a fishing pond (empty and doing some construction on it when I went), an actual bathroom, covered pavilions with grills, and some courts and fields. It connects to the bike trail for a paved walking area along the stream (lots of people getting their toes wet or dog splashing in it) and areas of the trail that break off for more pebbled terrain. One branch of the stream was dry so my sister and I had some fun walking down it. Lots of sucks as well. I hardly suggest bringing a blanket and picnic lunch (or grab a sub from the nearby sheets or some pastries/food from safron bakery just down the street). Just wish it had a water fountain I...
Read moreA wonderful neighborhood park created by Thomas Pangborn for his employees when the Pangborn Corporation was across the street and the neighborhoods surrounding didn't exist yet. cbc 55 Soon after the company was sold the formerly private park was transferred to the city of Hagerstown to maintain and operate. While a few minor changes have been made over the years the essence of the park continues much as he intended. Changes to the park include a new fountain to replace the old, a new pavilion, a volleyball court and an island in the middle of the pond. The new blends seemlessly...
