The fairgrounds supply an excellent array of options for a variety of outdoor activities. There is space for softball and baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball, and even skateboarding. Additionally there is plenty of places to walk, jog, or take your dog. Speaking of pets, there are two separate gated areas specifically for you to let your dog run around and socialize with other pets. The only reason I wouldn't give this five stars, is there is an element of chaos consistently present. What I mean by that is you have groups of people utilizing certain parts of the park for their use versus what is primarily supposed to be used for. For example, the hockey rink is perpetually used by people who want to play basketball, soccer, or ride around on a razor scooter. It can absolutely be frustrating if you're trying to use that part of the facilities for exactly what it's designed for yet have to battle for space with those other competing parties. Additionally there does seem to be a large number of very young unsupervised children at all hours. When I say young I mean like under elementary-aged. Overall though, the park has a good vibe and should be...
Read moreWe have played travel softball here for years now and it never gets better. The 3 fields grouped together by the concession stand are immaculate. There however is a fourth field that is located remotely. It has very very limited parking and no restroom o OT a port-a-pot. Today at field 4 we found that the port-a-pot has feces smeared over interior and has not been serviced recently. The parking lot is now 2 spaces smaller due a large pile of mulch dumped wherever they could. At the main complex where fields 1-3 are located the men’s restroom has graffiti written in feces on the wall. When I told one of the crew working they didn’t seem to be bothered by it. Come on Hagerstown you’re better than this at least I always thought you...
Read moreFairgrounds park has proven itself to be one of the most conveniently located, well kept, and dog friendly places in the Washington County area. There are multiple baseball fields, 2 dog parks, a BMX track, a skateboarding park, and an ice skating rink! There are also walking trails through the woods and a paved connection between Fairgrounds and Pangborn Parks that has a running creak with lots of ducks. The park’s groundskeepers seem to keep the place very well kept and tidy, however, there are a few that enjoy enforcing the rules a little too much. One older gentleman specifically, rides in a golf cart or in a white truck, watching and waiting to reprimand anyone who he suspects...
