Let me start off by saying that I did not just decide to review this Winery off a whim. In fact I thought about this experience for 3 whole days and decided to share. In fact my company is an advertising partner with the Wine Passport Days they are part of which even made me more disappointed.
Friends and myself decided that we would make our last stop on the passport day at this location. For those of you not familiar with what I am referring to, the Santa Cruz Mtn Wine Growers association has passport days when you can buy for $45 a booklet and visit a slew of great wineries during their tasting hours and enjoy a tasting on the house. We drove through a thicket of traffic all the way from Santa Cruz and arrived at 510PM, their hours were 10am-5pm. I expected for the location to be closed and really just hoped it might understand due to being on HWY 92 and always being congested with traffic, but we knew the possibilities.
We arrived and there were a ton of people around in the bocci area, people out front at a distance, and people still being poured wine from a glance right before we were to walk in. Instead an employee pushed past us, walked behind us and without looking at us told the air and the trees "no more new pourings would be accepted", they then walked past us again and as I looked inside was greeted by dirty looks from those behind the counter still pouring as i stood 3-4 feet from the door. Did I expect them to be closed, yes, did I expect to be told that yes. Did I expect them to refuse to address me face to face, and instead treat me not like a human and physically ignore me to make some point to nobody else around, NO!!! Wow, total lack of caring for patrons.
I would have been 100% OK with somebody saying "so sorry we are closed, can I offer alternative times" but to be breezed by and not actually even greeted to have some employee just shout to an empty lot instead of just telling me to my face and then receive additional poor treatment? OK, that is when I share what your selling!
So for those interested in visiting Half Moon Bay and to my fellow passport users and SC Mtn Wine fans, I suggest fervently to not visit a place where they treat guests with such disregard for common courtesy, manners, and guest service.
La Nebbia, you earned yourself a negative...
Read moreThe outdoor space was really lovely. It's a nice flower garden with picnic tables, not fancy, but pretty. Indoor is small, we didn't spend much time there. You can bring your dog which is nice. If they have water bowls they did not offer.
The woman serving wine was polite, but not particularly friendly. The food available is pre-packaged which isn't indicated on the site. Not that that is bad, but I wish it was clear you're just grabbing from a fridge in the store.
The reason we won't be returning though, is the wine. Honestly, most of it wasn't very pleasant. It ranged from decent/drinkable zin to a cab that we couldn't take more than a sip of (honestly I think these was something wrong with it. It wasn't that we disliked the notes; it was straight up gross like it had gone bad, which makes me wary of their products.), to disgustingly sweet. The orange dessert wine was like cough syrup. I know dessert wines are sweet, but this wasn't a good sweet. I would prefer to...
Read moreLa Nebbia Winery in Half Moon Bay is a charming and relaxing spot for wine lovers. I had the pleasure of enjoying their wine tasting flight, which was both delightful and affordable. The tasting experience was intimate and personal, allowing me to savor a selection of wines in a cozy setting. The winery also offers a variety of gourmet snacks, including cheeses, salamis, hummus, and pita, which perfectly complemented the wines.
The winery is conveniently located near several flower nurseries, making it a great stop during a leisurely drive through the area. Its proximity to the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay adds to its appeal, offering visitors a chance to enjoy local wines in a picturesque coastal setting.
Whether you're a local resident or a visitor exploring the coast, La Nebbia Winery provides a delightful and memorable wine...
