I havenāt been to any other Giant store in a while so I canāt say if the problems that I am going to describe are the result of company-wide store policy, or if only this particular location struggles with mismanagement.
If you go too early in the day: no cashiers available, use self-service. Too late in the evening: no cashiers available, use self-service. Busy mid-afternoon: one solitary cashier handling every customer that does not wish to, or is physically incapable of, using self check-out.
I am not exaggerating when I say that not even a single standard lane is serviced by staff during the early or late hours, and management during both time periods have confirmed to me that this is an intentional choice and uninfluenced by staffing issues.
It is also worth noting that during the daytime hours in which they choose to have a member of staff assigned to a register, only sometimes is the register being used a lane that is designed to be wheelchair accessible.
During any time of day there will always be a minimum of three staff members chatting casually at the customer service counter. Apparently they exist only to ease along any issues for customers in the self-checkout lanes; customers that were offered little or no choice but to use them.
For myself personally, this is merely an irritating inconvenience during times that I have a large shop. That said, I am young, healthy, and not limited in my physical abilities.
Many elderly people or individuals with disabilities are forced to choose between the additional physical exertion of the self-checkout process, or instead being obligated to ask staff for treatment that is outside of standard procedure.
The entire reason that āhandicapped accommodationsā exist is to limit situations in which a person must request special assistance from others. The check-out processes of this store are being managed in a way that saves the company money at the detriment of the consumer, period.
This may be a concern that should be given media attention. To a person with disabilities, this limitation of options may not only be demeaning, but might even be considered a potential...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store has the worst deli service Iāve ever been too. Not only once did I receive bad service but so many times I lost count. I go here regardless because itās close to home. But Iāve had it to the point I will now go out of my way to go elsewhere! Every time I go to this deli, the help is awful. They either get irritated they have to cut meat for a customer and have the worst look on their faces, but they give attitude or re no where to be found. I waited over 10 minutes and still no workers. I could hear them in the back but they never come to check if they have customers waiting . This is constantly . Another time it took over a hour for my meat to be cut when I put the order in their kiosk. They also had no one even at the deli waiting in line . I stood and waited after I did my whole grocery shopping that I just walked out. Over a hour later I finally got the text my order was ready , I was ready at home and cooking dinner. I went to customer service to ask if the deli was closed and they replied no itās open then their back office door opened and the worker said ā are you complaining about the deli? Seriously if you know your deli is that awful why arenāt you doing something about it ? Obviously Iām not the only customer complaining if they knew I was there to complain about the deli. I refuse to go back there . I will go to Cumberland Parkway even though itās really out of my way. One last thing they never cut the meats at what you request. Itās always much thicker obviously because when someone asks for extra thin that just takes to long for them and they do it how they choose anyhow . It really is awful to get home and have cheese all rbeeakjng due to itās just thrown all over the place and meats not even close to the thickness needed. Iām very sure Iām not the only person having problems with this giant ! Unbelievable!!!!! Iāll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI must say the staff that works here has been absolutely amazing towards me. I usually do not go to this giant I usually go to Weis markets. But, two times in one week with a couple days in between I had to go in as soon as they opened to get balloons blown up and at that time they obviously don't have anybody doing that. The managers and the stuff where super helpful in getting someone to do it for me. As soon as I walked in the second time they knew who I was they were still sweet about it even though they had other work to do that they were taking time out of that to help me blow up balloons that I needed right away because I procrastinated lol for my friend's birthdays :-) But I have never come across a staff at Giant that actually cared enough to track someone down quickly to get it done quickly so I wasn't late and so I could also make sure last minute that I could go and deliver my balloons to my friends for their birthday So I just wanted to give some credit to this giant and that I think it's better than the bigger giant sometimes the smaller stores have better customer service lol But I would definitely give this giant five stars! On top of that I have been to about six different grocery stores including different wise markets and giants and it so happened that when I went there they had the two things I was looking for It was the only giant I had not checked that whole week I had been trying to track these two items down. I was so excited they had it I grabbed probably six boxes of my protein bars and my popsicles lol. The stuff was also super helpful in helping me find them and getting exactly what I needed!...
