My wife and I attended for 18 years. I was on the drama "team" for 18 years and played guitar on the "worship" team for 10 years. I found many of the "team" members to be arrogant and hypocritical. They would only speak when they needed me to do a drama or play music on the weekend..after that, it was as if I had leprosy. They loved to throw their hands in the air and pretend to be all religious but it was only a show for the congregation. If you were not in the "Lewis Inner Circle", you were treated as an outsider. Lewis said on MANY occasions that God told him to keep his hands off and God would build the church! It started out that way but then Lewis put his hands all over the church and it began its downhill slide to the 2 services it now has. Half of the Summerville Seacoast church and many at New Spring are people who saw the light and chose to leave. The demon of GREED took over and the church started falling losing member after member. It went from 5 services when we left in June of 2012 to just 2 services now! That should speak volumes to anyone! It's all about the $$$$ and how many family members can be given PAID positions in the "church" and buy exorbitant homes. We were treated by some of the "leaders" as outsiders and were told we were scolded when we actually voiced our own opinions. In fact, I was told to my face that I was never to question the authority of any of the supposed pastors. We were black balled and basically forced to leave the church because we were "sinners" and because we questioned some disturbing situations going on in a couple of the ministries. One person deemed a "pastor" even told members of our successful home group (behind our backs) that they (our friends and home group members )were no longer allowed to come to our home group and for them to "distance themselves" from us until we "repented and came back into the fold" Whatever that ridiculous statement means...Sounds exactly like something God would say doesn't it? This church is not honoring God and is dying more each week. Why? because the Lewis sycophants continue to worship at the feet of god Lewis and pour Kool-Aid out to those fools willing to drink from the cup. It's sad to see a once great church reduced to barely surviving but that's what happens when your eyes are no longer on God and you don't walk the talk. Be afraid! BE VERY AFRAID!...
Read moreMy wife and I are very blessed to serve this fabulous church in a few different capacities. We are going through a difficult season in our lives right now and I’m really not sure what we would do without our church family. They have been nothing short of amazing. Many times we have come into the church feeling mentally down and beat up with life and the season we are going through right now, but have never left feeling even close to the same way. Your mood has no choice but to change for the better when you are greeted with loving, warm, welcoming smiling faces that are so excited to see you and so glad you’re there. Church can be fun. The praise and worship teams are loaded with an unbelievable amount of talent, not to mention a fabulous sound system. There is a thorough children’s check in for children of all ages, so you can rest assured they will be having a blast in a secured environment while you relax and enjoy the service with a great cup of coffee and a tasty treat from the Cafe. I highly recommend Cathedral Of Praise for any and all people, no matter where you are in life. You will not be sorry you paid this church a visit. Definitely God’s house, filled with His...
Read moreWent for a few years, my mom was an adamant tither to it, asked to see where her money was going and they wouldnt tell her. After my sister said she needed to step down from her serving positions she was verbally attacked and told to shut up. Then the entire church gossiped about me and my family since we left it as a whole and it feels unsafe to be at. The female pastors never meet up to talk unless you’re in high positions, the messages never go deeper than a salvation message, and the youth group is more of a show than a group of teens growing together. They boast about helping the community but when we were struggling with eviction notices and begged for help multiple times they said they couldn’t help us with a pat on the shoulder after buying chic fil a for the whole congregation. If you don’t sit front row, you’re just another salvation tally for them to boast about. If you don’t wholeheartedly follow the pastors without a question you’re genuinely shunned out from the community and all talk about it is snuffed out. Do not go here, it is not a...
