This parking lot located next to the highway and at the starting point of the Appalachian Trail/Red Dot Trail is quite convenient, I'll give it that. However, it's worth noting that it's not a large parking lot, so my suggestion would be to arrive as early as possible. That said, because the Red Dot/Blue Dot trails are relatively short, turnover is pretty quick, and finding a spot during the day might not be too challenging – though you may need to wait some time for a spot to become available.
We arrived at around 9 AM on a Saturday and the lot was nearly full, with only a few spots unoccupied. It's important to mention that there aren't any marked spots on the ground, which could allow for more cars if people park considerately without leaving large gaps between vehicles. The situation got a bit chaotic by the time we finished our hike and returned to the lot. Cars were double-parked, parked on the side, on the grass, and at odd angles. We heard from someone that cars could be fined or towed for improper parking, so I'd be careful. Exiting the lot became quite tricky, as it was congested and challenging to maneuver, reverse, or drive through.
Parking here is free, but there are no amenities available on-site. Visited on a Saturday,...

This parking lot illustrates the total disregard of the local government for the needs...
