Really fun experience for kids. During busy times there is a wait. On a weekday you may have very little wait, unless a group is scheduled to come in. You have to sign in, fill out your info and get a card to scan for next time. You can buy one race or more, if you buy more than one race but don't use it that day - you can use it another day. Our experience has been the person at the front desk has a 5++ star personality: helpful, friendly, excellent customer service. Once it's time to race it's very confusing when it's actually your turn. It's hard to see the screen, it's so loud, the microphone is so muffled you are basically guessing the whole time about when it's time to go, also the staff at the track are just not very helpful, they don't explain things well (only the flags), they don't explain how to adjust the car seat to reach pedals, they don't help the kids get strapped in, they aren't clear about when the race actually starts, the helmets are not put on the kids with care, the visors are foggy and the kids can't see well. The staff plays with the remotes and slows drivers down with no rhyme or reason and it's really not a race because they are manipulating the cars for the kids. It's a very confusing environment once you are up for your race, no one can hear anything, The staff are not trying to help the kids understand. Otherwise fun, if you know your child will be confused, may not get comfortable in the seat, and it's not really a race (because they will slow your child's car down) throughout the race, then your kids will have a blast!

Looking for a fun indoor activity? Kids or adults, both are accomodated. K1 is not cheap (prepare to pay between $50 and $100 per person depending on the number of lapping sessions you buy. Each session is about 12 laps. Small kids are separated from adults in different karts and alternating sessions. Helmets and head socks are provided. These karts are electric so there is no smelly fumes situation and the noise is minimal. The facility is fairly clean. There might be a wait if you arrive at a busy time in the evening or on weekends. (Most we've waited is about an hour and a half.) There is a small arcade and food, but honestly there could be a lot more. Other karting facilities have better things to do besides the karts but K1 is almost entirely about driving. Staff is adequate but I can't find much to compliment in the warm and friendly department. Safety seems to be the priority (which is good) but the team seemed mostly bored and underwhelmed. They only have one layout but it's a fun challenge. Karts are controlled remotely for safety around incidents (spin outs or small crashes with each other and the barriers). They also keep you slowed down at the beginning and end of each session. Hardcore racing nerds (like me) or karting enthusiasts might prefer gas karts and larger tracks but for novice drivers and kids I think K1 is a great introduction to faster karts than your average arcade. My boys always have fun driving here.

Not my favorite experience with K1. As a karting enthusiast I was very excited to try out a new track while visiting family in Charlotte. First two races were fine, just the usual bumping and spinning out that comes with karting. But the third race was an absolute joke. We spent more time sitting on the track than we did driving in all three races combined. There were three separate times where a kart had to be exchanged or retired. Each time took well over 5 mins of sitting dead stop on the track. I thought the employees would recognize the lack of driving time we all got and would add on a few more laps to feel like we did a full race, but I was wrong. When I asked the young guy who was running the race if it was possible to get a refund for just the last race or maybe a credit, I was met with indifference. He said “the lap times were consistent” and then told us to go find a manager. I’m posting a screenshot of the lap times. I’m not a statistics expert, but I would not call lap times spanning from 34 secs, 145 secs, and 439 secs “consistent”. Disappointing, considering my experience at the location in Austin was fantastic and included a complimentary race when they had to close early before I was able to do a race. Maybe I’ll just go to The Pit or Victory Lane next time.

On October 19th, I was with a group of 6 and visited the Concord location for a bachelor outing for my son's upcoming wedding. During this visit, we purchased the two race deal. During the second race, my son overheated and got sick in the Go Kart on the track. The guys working the the races were very nice about it and were concerned about the well-being of my son. However, the MOD (I am not sure what her name was), was very unprofessional and hateful towards us after this happened. Her loudness and foul language was not necessary. She was very belligerent toward us and acted irrational. She even snapped at one of the employees who were trying to help. She said there would be a cleaning fee of $50, $100, or $150 (depending on the damage to the kart). I remained calm while she was acting this way. I told her that I understand about the cleaning fee and I knew it was not ideal for someone to have to clean that up. She not once even asked how my son was doing! She only cared about the mess that she had to clean up. I bought my son a K1 shirt for him to change into. When he came out of the bathroom from changing, she yelled at him to come to the counter and repeated in a hostile voice about the cleaning fee. I was the one who was going to pay it and he just needed to go out an get fresh air, but she was not concerned about him at all. I paid the $50 clean up fee without using foul language or getting upset (even though she was still mad when we walked out. I have been in management for over 25 years and I know that customers should never be treated that way. My information is in the system at K1 Speed in Concord. I received an email asking bout my visit and wrote something similar, but there has been no response. Why send out the survey if nothing is going to be done about the negative things that happen? I hope more training is done to keep anyone else from experiencing this type of behavior from management...

Go to the pit go cart racing instead. We went with a group of people, and had a 30 minute drive each way. I had high expectations and was very exited. We get there, lady at front desk looks slightly unhappy/fake smile. I brush it off and go to get a drink, guy looks unhappy. Finally get to race and they shut the carts off around 7 times. I was not very happy but thought I just got unlucky. Go on to the next race. ABSOLUTELY horrible. Get in the carts, ready to go, and the guy tells me to stand up(looks mad). I stand up and he gives me a booster seat. Now I know I am not very tall(5,7) but he gave me the booster seat. No one else my height gets one, but another guy(5,2) gets one. To through fuel on the fire, the guy that gave me the seat, threw it in the seat sideways. So I sturggled but got it in place.we started racing, they shut the carts off about once every 25 seconds. They would shut them down, take forever, then start them back up for another 25 seconds. I was slammed into a wall(because cart shut off) hurting my neck, arms, and knocked the visor off my helmet. So then we stop for 4-5 minutes so the unhappy guy could put the visor back on. The carts would shut off a lot but only a few would shut off. So you had people doing 30mph(about the top speed of the carts, flying past the people that got stopped for no reason. I am not a greedy person at all, but the LEAST they could do was say sorry, if anything like this woud have happend at the pit, they would have gave us another free race without even thinking twice. Me and the people from my group all said that we would never give this establishment our hard earned money ever again. If you want actual, fast, uninterrupted, gas powered cars, go to THE PIT IN MOORESVILLE. 1 star is...

I booked my sons 8th birthday party over a month in advance with K1 Speed. The night prior to our party their corporate office called confirming the details of our event. We were told to show up at 6:00pm for registration and their racing would start at 6:30 pm. We were also told that we would have a party room available during this time.

We arrived at 5:45 to a very empty and quiet facility. The last guests arrived and were signed in over 20 minutes prior to our scheduled race time. The manager there (Zack Hayes) informed me that we wouldn’t have a party room available until 8pm (which is not what I was told while booking and confirming the party prior). He said there was nothing he could do and backed his response by saying we were not there on time….

This means our kids (all 7 and 8 year olds) wouldn’t be eating their dinner until after 8pm. I had informed all of the parents that pizza was being provided through the facility (part of the party package) and that the children wouldn’t need to eat prior to arriving. The kids were finally eating around 9:30pm.

Our party was on the track at 7:45pm for their first of 3 races. We ended up leaving around 11:00pm (with a drive of almost an hour back home).

This facility is definitely being ran by some inexperienced kids who don’t believe in customer service. All of the track staff with the exception of one were standing around chit chatting, vaping, and watching the one employee do all of the pre race safety checks.

Not one apology from the manager throughout any of this, but He was quick to shift the blame and makes excuses.

Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this facility in the future. After arriving, the entire interaction with this company was more than...
