The bridge in the nature center has been closed for years. When are they going to repair or replace it ? They keep talking about improvements. What improvements? They could add lookouts or walkways so you could see areas of the marsh which are in accessible. I can understand cutting down old or dead trees, but why don't they plant new ones ? I have been using the nature center for 50 years with my children and grandchildren and this is probably the worst it's ever been. Provide duck boxes or other nesting areas for the bird population. Read moreThe trails around the Nature Center reveal a surprisingly natural habitat for an area adjacent to the suburbs. We walked around 3pm and immediately saw a Green Heron calmly preening in the water near the nature center. We also saw a Fox Sparrow. I expect we'd see lots more if we went at dawn or dusk. Saw quite a few plants I hadn't seen before. And, I must say this park has the most majestic cottonwoods I've ever seen! One old specimen looked like its bark had grown around a large vine that...
Read moreThe nature center is still closed, but metro is just always a beautiful place to go. There are a lot of turtles and snakes out on the trails, great horned owl if you get lucky! Lots of baby geese. Took photos on camera this trip so not many available for upload. These are from previous visits. Restrooms are open, pets allowed just not on nature trail. Boat launch, fishing, kayaks, bike/blade/skate, playground, parasailing, great place too fly kites when windy....
