Hello everyone, I politely come to express my dissatisfaction with this store, located at 475 Flatbush Ave. Hartford. I've been going to this store for 7 years and I've never had a situation like this here. I really like the store and its products. It all started when I tried on a pair of white glasses, and my makeup got on them. For those who wear makeup, we know that makeup usually gets sticky, and with the heat this summer, it contributed to the makeup getting a little on my glasses. Since I liked the glasses, I took them to the cashier to pay, along with some clothes that I also wanted to pay for. When I got to the cashier, my card failed and the cashier told me that I was obliged to pay for those glasses because my makeup had gotten on them. I told her that I would come back because I would have to take another card to make the payment. I returned with another card and told her that I would only pay for the glasses because she said I got makeup on them. So I paid for the glasses and left them at the store along with the receipt, because she said I was obligated to pay. But she forgot that I was the one who exchanged the glasses for her because I wanted them. She was so nervous and hid her anger behind a fake smile that even she couldn't hide her discomfort. The question I asked her was, and I'll ask Rainbow the same question here: Do you have any idea how many of your dirty clothes we buy in your stores, and we pay for them, and we come home and wash them? Do you have any idea how many of your ripped clothes we pay for, and we come home and sew them? Do you have any idea how many of your products we buy, and we get home and realize we bought something expensive and of poor quality? All of this happens in your stores, but no one has lost their minds to complain to you about all of this. Do you know why? Because we see this store as our home, we see it as our place of leisure where we can go and have fun and shop peacefully. Even because shopping. It's almost like therapy. I ask the cashier to be more humble with customers. I'm not a precise person, so she can test me for discrimination. If you want to keep working there, know how to treat everyone equally. Let's respect each other. Tell the cashier that she can keep her glasses and money. I work night and day, and no one earns my money. What's mine will come back double. If you have no respect for customers, at least try to be polite. And put out paper with large print so people with makeup don't try to press on glasses. That way, there won't be another victim for you to...
Read moreThieves!! On 9/17/2025 I walked into this Rainbow store on Flatbush Ave in Hartford, CT just looking around. On several occasions in the past employees at the door would ask me for my shopping bag. I normally don’t like this protocol with stores and I don’t put up resistance so I give them my bag. This day no one was at the front door taking backs however I walked to the back of the store and their was two cashiers at the register. To alleviate them ask me for my bag, I asked the cashier on the right “do you need to take my bag” she replied yes. At this time I reached over the counter and gave her a Famous Footwear bag that had my sons Nike sneakers, Nike wind breaker and my sons church shoes from Children’s Place. All these items were in the bag upon giving her the bag. She takes the bag and from the side of my eye I noticed she put it on the back counter behind the register. I walked away and was looking around the store for maybe 10 mins the most. I decided I wasn’t buying anything so I asked the cashier back for my back and she gave it to me and I left. I didn’t look in my bag because I didn’t think anything of it and went home. The next day my son comes home from school I went into the same bag to let him try on his sneakers and jacket. Low and behold there were no church shoes from Children’s place! The shoes were completely missing from my bag just stolen! I immediately called the store and I was gaslighted, dismissed and the employee reported she was the one who took my bag and was the manager. She said why would she take my son shoes she doesn’t have a child. I told her the shoes disappeared from the bag in your store! I said to her I just purchased the shoes and came in the store with them in the bag and handed to her so explain why they were missing? She hung up on me and i immediately called the police!!!!!!!! Today is 9/20/25 and i am going back to the store with police escort to investigate this!!! I’m a single who works full time and hard for my money! By no means necessary this should be happening and this a direct violation to consumers rights! There Are thieves in that Rainbow store and this has to end now! I’m furious that I was taken advantage of and I will get the justice I deserve. I’ve just exposed the employees of this store and wanted my money back plus ! This employee will go down and corporate I will be filing a complaint and launching an investigation! I was recommended by Hartford to please call them today so the can escort me into the store...
Read moreTerrible, Terrible management. This specific location in the Walmart Plaza on Flatbush in Hartford is terrible. When I went in, not only was the selection lacking for such a large store but the store associates were not helpful or welcoming. When I entered, no one greeted me or asked if I needed help for the entire 30-45 minutes I was there. The entire store was almost empty with about 2 or 3 other customers. There was also a rude woman who wheeled a little wagon or cart (I couldn't see) around and NEVER said excuse me when she got in people's way or shoved by them. It was obnoxious.
The fitting room was also a mess. It was dirty and looked like an under construction nightmare and not some place anyone should be...
