Having proper expectations makes this experience a whole lot better. First off, this location that you’ve selected is the actual falls, not the area that you view them from. The viewing area is on google as “Opaeka’a Falls Vista Parking” and is down the road (makai) a bit.
The view is at a moderate distance (actually 0.25 miles as the Nene flies) but still quite enjoyable. Nice place to take pictures. Also restroom facilities are available in the parking lot.
Cross the street and there is a viewing point for the Wailua river. You can often see the kayaks going up and down the river (actual a super fun and easy adventure you...
Read moreExcellent opportunity for people who may not be able to hike to other falls in the area to get out of the car and see some beautiful sites. ‘Opaeka’a Falls is a bit far in the distance from the view point but is still a beautiful waterfall. There are restrooms in the parking lot. You can also walk on a paved path towards the falls then cross the street to have an extraordinary view of the Wailua River. There is parking across and down the street as well that also has great views of the Wailua River too and some picnic benches. There are loads of roosters over on that side, definitely kings...

I highly recommend looking into kayaking or paddle boarding this river if you have time. We never got around to it, but it was...
