When we arrived on a Tuesday afternoon in March, the first thing we noticed was rodent droppings on the kitchen counters and floor throughout the condo #106. Over the next hour, we found more droppings in the shower and on the toilet seat. We then discovered the rodent, a RAT, in the toilet, still alive! Within minutes we reached out to the owner about the rat in the toilet and did not receive an immediate response. We contacted the building manager and she also tried to contact the owner with no response. The condo was completely uninhabitable and we quickly had to make other lodging arrangements. The owner did not respond to the situation for 13 hours! At that point we were not going back. We are still in the process of trying to secure a refund and filed a claim with VRBO documenting our experience with pictures and complete transparency of the communication between us and the owner. If you can look past the rodent, be prepared the condo is not accurately represented in the posting. The furniture, décor, and kitchen are not as well kept as the pictures show. The bed linens were torn, with the bed skirt barely hanging on at the corners. The condo and furniture need repair and updating. The owner will respond that we have been difficult, evasive, and uncooperative. In fact, we have been clear, direct, and never personally attacking her character as she did with us. The location is wonderful and we hear the other condos are better. Do your...
Read moreI had booked a reservation with Kona Magic Sands #109 for two weeks. I had read the reviews and there were a couple which mentions issues with the stove and bathroom. Looking at the pictures it appeared that the bathroom had been remodeled and the stove replaced. I sent the property manager Mira an email asking if indeed the issues had been addressed. The next day I received a notice that my reservation had been cancelled with no reason for the cancellation. This is frustrating because I had already made my flight reservations and car rental. I had booked the rental in spite of the negative reviews because the unit was ocean front and at a great price. I did not expect perfection for the price, I just saw any improvements as a bonus if indeed they had taken place. I stayed at a beachfront property on Kauai that the front door did not lock, the refrigerator had a big hole between the freezer and cooling section, there were large cockroaches periodically, among other issues. However it was right on the ocean and the waves broke over the seawall in front of the house and the price was right. Not afraid of a few minor issues. It is extremely frustrating that Mira could not give me the opportunity to discuss it with her. It makes me wonder if there were more issues that were listed in...
Read moreThis review is for unit 203 Magic Sands. The bathroom was a good size with plenty of towels provided. The lanai was large and overlooked the beach area and it was fun to watch the boogie boarders and the the waves crashing on the rocks. The sound of the waves are very loud at night and it took me a few nights to get used to it. This was not a place to snorkel but 5 minutes down the road there is a very nice snorkel "beach". The queen size bed was quite uncomfortable....we used every extra blanket and sheet and put them on the mattress to make it more comfortable. I suggest that a pillow top cover be added and that would make the bed much more comfortable. The wifi and TV worked great but the TV was too small...we had to sit on the edge of the bed to watch a tennis match. The tiny sugar ants will be a problem unless you keep the kitchen counter tops clean at all times. The AC worked great. The sliding glass door to the lanai was very difficult to open from the outside. It needs a larger handle. There is no elevator so be prepared if you are booking the upper levels.||This unit has the potential to be a 4...
