I came to this beach to watch the sunset, and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful experiences on the island. The view of the sun setting over the ocean is absolutely breathtaking. It’s easy to get here — there’s no traffic and plenty of parking spaces. Parking is quite simple if you arrive about 20–30 minutes before sunset, since it gets crowded closer to that time. The waves are calm, perfect for swimming or just relaxing by the shore. I highly recommend coming here for sunset — it’s truly magical and unforgettable.

Gorgeous little beach right in Kona! Ro ks in the middle and to the right (north) side kept swimmers & boogie-boarders concentrated to the left (south) side. Wave action was moderately strong, so might not be great for inexperienced swimmers/waders (receding waves can have enough undertow to pull you off your feet if they're big ones). That being said, there was a lifeguard on duty until 4pm. Floating on the waves and enjoying the sunset was a perfect start to our Hawaiian vacation. <3

Really cool beach! Small, but the coral sand is really fine, making it softer than some other beaches on the island. Parking is good too! It's called Magic Sands because when a large swell comes in, all the sand will be pulled off the beach, and later the sand will wash back ashore-- MAGIC! 😌
