This is a very short trail that we stumbled on by accident because we decided to take the scenic route to Akaka Falls. I wouldn't plan a day around it, but if you're in the area, it's a nice detour. The trail itself is only half a mile out and back. The trail is a little steep, but it's paved and easily accessible. The main reason you'd go is to see the beach, but it does cut through the botanical gardens, so you can peak through the fence and see some interesting greenery and foliage. I also spotted dozens of crabs hanging out on the rocks near the beach, which was kind of cool. The beach has an impressive view, but it's probably not an area where you'd want to go swimming unless you're comfortable swimming in rough conditions without anyone to help you out if you get smashed up against the rocks. There's enough parking for 2 or 3 cars on the side of the road at the trailhead. Nobody else was there when we drove by, but someone mentioned to me that some locals surf off the beach, so it might be difficult to find parking during a weekend or when tourism in the area is high.

One of my favorite trails in Hawaii. Sweeping coastal views of Hawaii. Extremely tropical jungle foliage trail. If you don’t like bugs then this trail is absolutely not for you. Full of blood sucking mosquitos nat swarms and what I like to call Hawaiian snakes even though there aren’t “really” snakes in Hawaii so they say. But if your brace enough to swat through the bugs it is one of the most beautiful trails. Full of Local fauna, orchids, native plants bamboo. If you do visit please don’t litter this beautiful landmark and if you see some trash you will be blessed if you pick it up.

This short 4 mile (6 km) drive has various great views along this narrow road. After the second bridge, there is a path going to the rear entrance of the Botanical Gardens. Just before. The fence line a dirt path goes down to the beach, where there is a excellent opportunity for a photo. After this point on the road ,you'll pass the main gate of the Gardens. Keep following the road till you cross a wooden bridge, where you can see water flowing through a lava tube. Please be careful as the road is very narrow.
