Do NOT waste both your money, and more importantly, your time! On a busy day, the line to ride the train exceeded 1 hour just to get on the train. Positive was that once inside the station, the cover gets you shade. The train ride itself is not entertaining outside of seeing the various growing areas; can be cool in its own right to see quickly. Biggest grievance is that 60% of the train ride repeats itself as an “out-and-back” train ride that rides parallel to the same track upon return; what you see going out, you see coming back in. The train itself is nice and a good ride. For what else there is to offer at the Dole Plantation, this is an attraction that you can skip and not feel like you missed out while visiting. Again, the cost is high for a family, but it is really about the time you lose to ride it during busy times. Even during non-peak times, this train ride would likely not be worth the experience.

Not 100% sure if it’s worth the wait. It’s “cool” to say you waited and went on it but after waiting an hour and a half (luckily it was a cloudy day with a breeze) for what seemed to be a fast 20 minute train ride, i don’t think it’s worth it. I thought we’d see so much more stuff than we did. You essentially ride up the track for a few minutes, then back down another track that’s parallel to the first one. So you basically see the same thing twice. Our train did stop once in the middle though just because the operator had to yell at some people for not wearing their masks. I thought we were gonna get out and explore 😅 guess not. So IMO, If it’s a hot day... don’t do it. Or you could have one person wait in line while the others explore. Hope you have a better experience than we did!

A two star rating is generous and that’s just for the fact you are in Hawaii! People/staff are friendly but IMO not worth it. The time stated 1.5 hours and that was pretty close. We didn’t do the garden tour afterwards and they gave us a refund which was nice. All in all I felt so bad for kids who waited so long to ride a train and just see plants and trees. I’m glad I can warn my son and family in case he ever thinks of going. I’ll post pics and trust me - these pics are the most interesting thing you’ll see. You go on the same route two times back and forth. Just get the pineapple dole whip, buy a magnet and call it a day! Go to the north shore tide pools instead!

Waited an hour and thirty five minutes to ride the train. Finally boarded the train and waited another fifteen minutes (why?). Once the train started the fumes were bad (this was one time I was grateful to be wearing the required masks because I (and my party) could hardly stand the smell. Also the narration was playing but the volume was not loud enough to hear well over the clickity clack of the train, as well as the train whistle. blowing. What we did hear was great! Really liked seeing the orchards and fields of various fruits and beans grown, and grateful they were all labeled.

Well, it's a plantation and this is one of very few attractions they have anyway so you will be tempted to get the ride anyway but probably not worth your money. It isn't too bad way to see tropical plants such as guava and banana but you won't touch any of it and it is hard to hear music or guide sound of the attraction anyway. Also the waiting time is way too long. I don't know how young kids can stand such a waiting. Probably wouldn't do this again.

Would not recommend the Pineapple Express Train. Between the stinky exhaust smell, extremely loud speakers above the seats and creaking train cars, it was not very enjoyable. Additionally the “farm” looks overgrown and more of decoration than an actual working farm. Coming in January meant less crowds but everything seems too pricey for what it is. The only positive was getting a Dole Whip, same as Disneyland.
