This was quite the interesting, learning experience! Ann was very informative and thoroughly explained to the group everything there was to know about how the Sanctuary acquires the animals and individual stories related to the animals. The trauma they endured because of the way humans interacted with them...some well meaning, but still caused major issues and unknowingly harmed the animals. Some really were crazy people and some animals were brought out out of harms way because of natural disaster. These animals have received therapy, time and special care specifically for their situations and for the type of animal they are. Ann is an incredible person with a heart for the animals. Our hats off to her and the volunteers who all put in blood sweat and tears into the lives of these animals 💙 We fed bananas to the ostrich and were all together with the three year old zebras as they walked around us and smelled us ❤️ This place is not a zoo, and especially not a petting zoo. She also quietly helps rehome dogs and other small animals and finds places to fly out some of these dogs that would otherwise be put down. This comes with great effort, time, money and of course takes a toll on a person's feelings. We applaud...
Read moreAloha, For domestic or feral animal (dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, goats & pigs) issues please call Humane Society or COH Animal Control. We are unable to leave the sanctuary to come collect a loose or feral animal on or near your property. For Marine mammals and sea turtles call NOAA and PIFSC, we (and all public) are restricted by law from working with these species. We can only refer you to the correct agency. So sorry but that is the law. For injured wildlife we will assist by phone so that a licensed wildlife rehabber will help the animal. We are thrilled to host tours at 3RR and to arrange one please go to visit@threeringranch.org We ask that all visits be arranged online as we are often doing daily animal care or a rescue thus unable to stay on the phone with you. If you call from 7am to 6 pm we might be with a vet or in the middle of an animals procedure. We are small and do not have office staff to assist you. Please be patient and kind if you reach us during one of these times. Please do not yell at us if we can't set one up for you right that minute. We do want to host you in a tour as long as one can be arranged during your Big Island visit. Advance notice is...
Read moreAnn and all the animals are absolutely amazing and not to be missed. Visiting the extraordinary sanctuary was a true highlight of our week on the Big Island. Ann approaches her (award-winning) work with a depth of care and integrity that is rare in this world. She is astonishingly well-attuned to the needs of the animals she saves and rehabilitates. This is an experience that isn't really possible to have anywhere else. Where else do you get a very up close chance to stroll around a field with a zebra, learn how spider monkeys say “hello,” or see ostriches strut around being ostrich-y? If you love animals or having unforgettable experiences or just want to meet an exceptional person, then this is simply a MUST DO.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to follow the directions on the website to reserve a place on one of their few weekly tours. Having been there, I now understand completely why they request that people do not just show up at the gate. Ann, the staff, and volunteers are far too busy attending to the needs of this remarkable menagerie to give...
