So? Let’s just assume you know a thing or two about wines, or winemaking? And let’s also assume you care about our wonderful planet and ethical farming practices? Mediterranean varietals especially have your interest, you say? Reds, Rose’? How about a Frizzante’?
If you’re still reading, and if you’re wondering what winery to visit when you’re in Sonoma County-then you’d better book an appointment for a tour at DaVero Winery on Westside Road, just 5 minutes west off Highway 101 in Healdsburg, Ca.
I have been enjoying DaVero wines since 2013 and I will tell you, you will not have a better tasting wine than a DaVero Altobasso!!! Wait? …than a DaVero Trovato! Hold on? ….than a DaVero Rosato?
I’m trying my best to not be verbose and over-enthusiastic, but when it comes to Ridgely Evers/Colleen McGlynn (owners) and Shannon Estill (farm ambassador) they have created a hidden jewel in DaVero that far exceeds many of the numerous and more-hyped wineries of Northern California. If you visit DaVero you will find yourself regaled by Ridge’s incredible enthusiasm and vast knowledge of not only his wines and the winemaking process, but his attention to detail and uncompromising ethics for the mission he and Colleen set forth in producing their wines and olive oils. You will invariably meet with one, more likely all three of them as you bask in the beauty of this special place. The area in which DaVero is located is surrounded by the many high-quality “bigger” wineries comprising the world-famous Dry Creek & Alexander Valley wineries. But trust me when I say this: upon tasting any of Ridge’s Mediterranean varietals and visiting DaVero’s picturesque biodynamic farm….you will find yourself talking about your experience for the next couple of weeks to anybody who’ll let you. For me? I’ve been talking about DaVero for 12 years.
The best part about DaVero? You will be welcomed, not sold to and you’ll be overwhelmed by Colleen’s smile and kindness! Call now and book, don’t miss out on...
Read moreDaVero Winery is truly a hidden gem and a powerful reminder of what it means to be connected to the land. From the moment we arrived, we could feel the love and intention poured into every corner of the farm and tasting room. The commitment to biodynamic farming and regenerative agriculture isn’t just something they talk about—it’s evident in the way the vineyard thrives, how the staff speaks about their work, and in every sip of wine.
The Italian varietals were beautifully expressive, elegant, and balanced—clearly crafted with care and respect for tradition. The olive oil was another standout—rich, fresh, and unlike anything you find in stores. Our tasting guide made the experience even more memorable by sharing not just knowledge, but passion and a deep respect for nature.
This is more than just a winery; it’s a place that invites you to slow down, engage with the natural world, and leave inspired. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a meaningful, memorable wine...
Read moreWe came here for my husbands birthday celebration over Labor Day weekend. We did a garden tasting and our host was especially great at answering questions about biodynamic wines and the DaVero farming process.
Besides wine they have many items for purchase such as olive oils, jams, and more, so it’s a fun place to explore and take home gifts.
The snacks (Meyer lemon olive oil popcorn and Italian seasoned nuts, and cheese with olive oil yumm) were delicious and did not attract the bees as much compared to other wineries in the area, which was a big plus.
They have a gorgeous garden you can explore and small barn with pigs that are incredibly cute.
Spend a magical afternoon or any time of day here by the foundation! See the barrel room and crush pads up close. The wines were all delicious. Located just a few minutes from downtown if you want to ride bikes there. We will definitely be coming back and will bring...
