Joe Tucker Park in Helena, AL, is a fantastic spot for outdoor activities and relaxation. The park is well-maintained and offers a beautiful lake with a walking track around it, making it perfect for a peaceful stroll or jog. The lake is also home to ducks, adding to the park’s charm. For families, the playground is a great feature, equipped with fun structures and covered with AstroTurf instead of mulch, making it a safer and cleaner play area for kids. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the tennis court in the back section, as well as the nine-hole disc golf course, which offers a good mix of technical and open shots for all skill levels. The basketball courts and open fields provide even more space for fun activities. The park is clean, spacious, and has something for everyone, whether you’re looking to get active or simply relax by the lake. Definitely one of the best parks in the area!

Stop letting your dogs poop on the ball fields!!!!!! The parks are good- faded from the sun, but still functional. The walking path is great. My biggest complaint is that people will use the ball fields as dog parks and let their dogs poop in the fields, not just the grass but the actual dirt of the field where kids play ball. And they leave it. There has been several times we’ve come up to the fields to play softball and someone has the gates closed- they’re sitting on a chair while their dog runs around the fields. This isn’t a dog park- it’s a ball field and should be used as such. If your dog poops on the field- at least pick it up.

My family, even though the kids are almost grown, will go here to walk the track and to fish. You can go here to catch bass, catfish, and bream. I would say 50% of what we've ever caught have been bream and the rest 8 to 15 inch bass. As of August 2020 it appears as if the city is revamping the park. At least parts of the walking track and the pond. It looks like they're dredging out the pond to make it deeper. It's also my understanding that they're replacing a bridge on the walking path that was destroyed by recent flooding.

Joe Tucker Park is a public park in the city of Helena. It is located behind the Helena City Hall and Helena Public Library near the intersection of Helena Road and Shelby County Highway 52 (map). Tucker Road loops through the park. The park features the 7.5-acre Joe Tucker Park Lake, created in 1974 by damming Lee Brook. The lake is stocked with fish and encircled by a half-mile-long lighted, paved walking path. Catch-and-release fishing is allowed on Saturdays only. Picnic tables and pavilions are available, as well as two softball fields, three playgrounds, and four tennis courts. Other features include a historic cabin and an open-air chapel. The largest playground is a "Boundless Playground", designed to be accessible for children regardless of disabilities, has been developed in phases as an ongoing civic project of the Kiwanis Club of Helena.
