My kids and I decided to visit and took my service dog and my daughter’s service dog. We were harassed by a lady with long reddish brown hair told me that we were not allowed on the path with the two service dogs after she asked me questions about the dogs. Proceeded to inform me to either take a different path or she would call fish and game. We proceeded and walked all the way around the park as we got back to our vehicle and loaded the dogs she approached myself and vehicle. Just to inform me that I was lying about the dogs which I have legal documentation for not to mention both dogs had vest’s that were clearly marked a bite collar and e collars. Also carry potty bags at all times. This same lady made the statement that they were not service dogs and that I do not have a disability that requires a dog. Mind you I don’t even know who she is nor am I from the area. Discrimination at its finest as it is stated not all disabilities are visible to the human eye. Stating the law to this lady apparently is rude as well. P.S. we had already been stopped by a state worker whom was mowing he also asked if they were service dogs I’m pretty sure the bright orange vest on my puppy whom is technically in training but is still legally registered stated do not pet in training. Also informed this same lady that when fish and game showed up I would gladly show them the registration paperwork which is also searchable by their registration numbers. None of this was acceptable to this extremely discriminatory lady.
Do Not Take Your Service Animals here unless you want to be discriminated against...
Read moreI've enjoyed this place all my life. There's an excellent trail for walking or jogging. The fishing isn't what it used to be, due to increased pressure, but it's still a fun place to teach your children to fish.
Please be careful! In the winter, ice thickness is inconsistent in the large pond due to the seven natural springs feeding it. The beach drops off abruptly and people have drowned here both summer and winter.
I am a little frustrated though, by careless dog owners. Despite the free bags, there is a lot of dog waste near the trail. Park rules also require leashes at all times, but both days I went this weekend, unleashed dogs ran up on my leashed dog. Today the owner was nowhere in sight and the little red heeler was aggressive towards my mutt. But if they'd fought and my dog won, my dog could be labeled as vicious. The park doesn't allow dogs between April 15 and October 15 already, due to irresponsible owners...
