Studying MBA at JWMI was truly a life-changing event for me. I personally believe the following points make JWMI stand out from other academic based MBA programs: Leadership learning – JWMI’s leadership course includes practical and real life wisdom from Jack Welch and many CEOs on the Expert of Practice (EOP). Jack’s quarterly Q&As address student’s wide variety of questions from career change, building a great team, bad boss to economy. Leadership is so important in the fast-changing 21st century, good leaders stand in higher dimensions with permanent forward thinking. Learn on Monday, apply on Tuesday and see results on Friday. This is very true. The learnings are very relevant and applicable to day-to-day business. A fellow student in his 40s told me, if he had learned all these 20 years ago, he would have made two million dollars more. I asked how he quantified this, he told me he just knew that this study can bring six figure worth of more income each year for him. Of course, each student’s situation and motivation are different. Professors have industry working experience in addition to their academic standing. Many business schools have professors with only academic background, some may have occasional consulting experience, but they haven’t started a business or worked inside a company. Professors at JWMI don’t have tenure, and they are rated by students twice a course. Many students become lifelong learners, and see changes as opportunities with permanent forward thinking. I am becoming...
Read moreI enrolled in the program in January 2014. Initially, I was a little intimated at first because I thought I would be in a class with only CEO's and managers of corporations, and feeling like I would be out of my depth. But, that is the furthest experience you get when you come to JWMI. The very first course I took was Leadership in the 21st Century. By the end of the first week of classes, I was hooked! The program is designed to incorporate what you already know, and apply it in your professional career. You learn not only from the professor, but from your peers as well. Each week you have may have 1 -2 discussion posts per week, depending on the class. The questions are relevant to today's environment. And at the end of the week on Sunday you have a learning journal to share what was most impactful to you from the lessons learned. At JWMI their philosophy is learn it on Monday, apply it on Tuesday, and share your results at the end of the week.
The classes are all application and theory based concepts using Jack Welch's Principals (Candor, Differentiation, Mission, Values etc)
Each quarter, students get an opportunity to participate in live Q&A with Mr. Jack Welch himself.
The return on investment in this program far exceeds expectations.
If you are looking for an Executive MBA Program that will revolutionize your way of thinking, then this program is for...
Read moreWhen I started Jack Welch Management Institute last year I had a few concerns. What would they teach someone who had been in business for more than 25 years? Would I be successful balancing JWMI with family and career? Could I keep up after not being in a formal education setting for two dozen years?
I have completed three courses now in communications, marketing and global leadership and in each course I have learned a significant amount. Beyond that I find myself digging for more learning in the course areas. I have found many opportunities to network with students, faculty, staff, and the JWMI community furthering that learning experience.
My courses do take anywhere from 8-15 hours per week per class, depending on assignments. I get started on Sunday night to get ahead of the curve and to take into account the challenges and opportunities that arise from family, career, and life.
The staff, faculty, classmates and the community have all been there when guidance, mentoring, tutoring, or encouragement were needed to complete assignments and keep moving forward. The experts of practice, who are the leaders of industry, add depth that really is amazing.
I am almost a year in and I would recommend JWMI to anyone looking for a top notch...
