In the 13 years I have been visiting family in Hillsboro, we never made a point to visit here and I can say with full confidence that was a mistake! It looks like it's closed, when you pull in to the parking lot, but all you need to do is call the number on the door if you come during business hours. I will be honest and admit that at first I thought a $10 ticket price was steep. But after taking the tour with Mr. Cal and seeing the immense collection of antique and vintage Americana, music players, cars, and pretty much anything you can think of - I retract that thought completely. I can't think of a better way to have spent our Saturday, especially since we were remembering our sweet sister/mom/grandma on the 1 year anniversary of her passing. She would have loved it so much.

I drove down from DFW to see this wonderful slice of Americana. What an amazing place! Mr. Estes (a very nice fellow) gave my wife and me the tour. He has amassed a huge collection of unique pieces that you won't see anywhere else under one roof. Then he takes you to see his "General Store" (a museum inside the museum filled with anything and everything), and after that he shows you all his classic cars! We had a blast and I can't recommend a stop here highly enough. (Take some time to drive around Hillsboro and see all the beautiful historic homes while you're there as well.) *** Very important: If the place looks closed, it isn't. Read the sign on the door and call the number. Mr. Estes will answer your call and open the place for you in minutes.

We happened to go to the door as the owner walked up to it. He warmly greeted us and for $ 15 for the 2 of us gave us a fantastic personal tour! There is a little bit of everything from fast food memorabilia to antique cars and toys. A real slice of old america. Masks did not seem to be required but we wore ours since I am allergic to dust (I actually didn't see anything that even looked dusty but didn't want to sneeze everywhere.) The American Pickers have been here and signed the wall which is pretty cool! If you want to get in you need to call the posted number since he may be in the back giving a tour and it's just him and one other sweet lady. Super cool stop!

Really disappointed. Drove 2 hours to check this place out. Called ahead of time to make sure they were open and they were closed during open hours when I got there. Edit: It's also a bit sad when the owner implies that I cant read English, didn't call in advance, and don't know how to use a phone. Then also says that he was waiting for me, you know, because I read the instructions and called to let him know beforehand. I called. He said they were open. Doors were locked and lights were all out. Not much more you can add to that. I kinda wished the owner would own up instead of pretty much shouting "idiot" at potential visitors but that's his deal. I'm an enthusiast willing to drive 2 hours to see this place. Hope he understands that. Based on past reviews I guess this wasn't the...
