Bearded Wheat Distillery — Local services in Hillsboro

FYI I have a very high bar for cocktails, most people are not as critical of their cocktails as I am. This place has the best cocktails in town for sure (although still room for improvement.) Old fashioned was a little out of balance (not sweet enough and not diluted properly w/ ice) but the high quality whiskey helped to make up for it. I can drink whiskey straight so did not bother me much but still it should be improved. Spicy margarita was very tasty, could be spicier maybe. Atmosphere is really nice, like a speakeasy. For me I would add a creamy coconut cocktail with jalapeno to the menu. The liquors they make in house are all very good, at least the ones that were available, they were out of a couple of them i believe. Owners were very friendly. As i'm writing this review I already know when I see him at the bar he will confront me about this...

I would like to say our first experience here was awesome. However, we decided to go a second time. This experience was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a bar in my life. The workers there were very rude. (We were told one of them was the son of the owner, however, he claimed to be the owner at first.) They refused to serve me (I'm 22) because of I had a vertical ID. I have been served here before so I don't understand how this would be an issue now. They said it was a TABC law which from my understanding of it is not true. I am very disappointed considering we have told so many people about this place, and hyped it up so much. I would be embarrassed if they went here and got the service we got. went here and got the service we got. We will not be coming back...

We’ve been here a couple times. Premium drinks. Good selection. Expensive. You get a premium atmosphere though. It’s definitely a cute place. It just depends on what you’re looking for.

I feel like they need a $6 drink on the menu, even if they have to bring in an outside liquor. Drinks are good my husband says. I was disappointed at the margarita walk during Churro fest, they only filled half the glass, which is apparently what the city told them to do. My husband did enjoy it and said it was one of the best on the walk.

I appreciate that the owner listens to his customers and takes the time to respond. That’s a lot more than many business owners do, and they get kudos...
