Pipestem Resort State Park — Attraction in Hinton

While the park has some great natural beauty to recommend it, the staff (looked like mostly HS and college kids) was not helpful in many cases. We made reservations six months ago with side by side level spots for our two families to enjoy. A week before our arrival date, we were told something was wrong with one of the sites and we'd have to be separated, which created big issues since we had carefully planned sharing items because the 2nd family had not camped before. They not only wouldn't comp us for the loss of our adjoining sites, but actually charged us more for the site we had to move to. Know also that the prices for the pool and lake are steep except for Tuesdays, which could make it hard for families with...

We stayed at the lodge. The room was clean and we had a wonderful view of the mountains. We hiked around the lake, which was beautiful (listed as a 2.2 mile hike, turned out to be more like 3.5 miles). The personnel were friendly, but I feel that they were not happy (perhaps need better pay?). The Lodge is run down and needs attention (State funding?) and I almost gave it 2 stars because of the horrible drink that was passed off as coffee. What was that? Hickory nuts?...

We absolutely love this park!!! Everything has been excellent! From the RV campground full hook ups very reasonable rates, spacious sites, cabin rentals,, horseback riding, zip line tours, great food, hiking trails, golf, outdoor pool, indoor pool, splash pad, picnics, scenic views, observation tower, lodge, amphitheater, lake, fishing, tram, conference rooms, well groomed grounds!!...
