We took our 2 sons and daughter out for a celebratory meal last night at the Oak and had the worst experience I’ve ever had in a restaurant. My husband ordered the prime rib and my son ordered the filet. Both ordered medium rare. The steaks came and both were over cooked- no big deal. Sent them back and were having a fun family conversation. A woman holding her purse approached the table and asked what was wrong with the steaks. (We had no idea who she was). We said they were overcooked. She said she looked that them and they were not overcooked to her. We said ok, but they were to us. She said something about being tired after traveling three hours to take care of her mother- a little confused we said ‘sorry to hear that’, but then she began to argue about the steaks. The waiter came back out with new steaks- my sons filet was completely raw. The waiter began to join in with the woman arguing about the first steaks. He said things like ‘I just ate that last steak- it was fine’ and ‘I can’t believe you all are so picky.’ My husband mentioned that he is from Chicago and has eaten a steak or two- and the waiter yelled ‘does it look like we are in Chicago!?’ My husband said ‘please leave- we will just take these steaks’ as the woman and waiter became heated and continued to argue. My older son finally said ‘go away!’ The woman (who finally yelled that she is the owner) told him to ‘go away’ and my younger son started to cry. We ate the edible part of the meal and paid our $178 bill and left. If you are going to charge Chicago prices, you had better not just be able to cook a steak properly, but also be able to handle a customer that is not satisfied with their meal. I know the climate of the service industry is tough now and we are always kind and respectful to our servers. The way we were treated was beyond anything I have ever experienced. We did not let this experience ruin our celebration of our son, but it was certainly a rude interruption to our family time that we...
Read moreMy wife and I are from Pittsburgh, Pa. We go to nice restaurants frequently there. From the time, we walked in the door, All the staff was friendly and smiles. We had reservations and our table was ready and we had the best seat, watching geese and their Horse, as well as the beautiful scenery which includes a tree that you would only think of in the west coast, HUGE. This was the first time the food actually looked like what was pictured on the website. Tasted even better, the chef they have is extremely talented and knowledgeable. The dining room staff was just as great. Always checking when appropriate to see if we were ok, as well as the back of the house got backed up a little and the main dishes were taking a bit for everyone in the dining room. As with us, we could here all the wait staff continuing to keep us and others updated with respect and sincerest way. We were not rushed at all and enjoyed every minute. To top it off, we were expecting quite a bill. It was A LOT lower than we were expecting. (Also helped we didn't order alcohol). As the site says, it's a family owned and operated, you can very much tell they love each other and love what they do here. We will be back. Make sure to make the reservation. One last comment, I was reading through the other reviews and one thing I noticed was the owner replied to almost all reviews, even the not so great ones. As I had read and left reviews for other businesses, the owners do not reply near as much as this owner, as well as replying to the lower reviews apologizing and visibly using those to better their love for their restaurant. Most owner's do not reply and ignore anything they don't like. Thank you so much for making my wife's and my trip...
Read moreFantastic first time experience dining at The Oak Supper Club! The service was wonderful and our server (Christie or Christina, I believe her name was? She was blonde and bubbly and had a fantastic personality!) elevated our dining to a whole new level. The food though, that's where you're going to hit the pinnacle of flavor that you don't simply eat, you taste and savor and can't help but want more.
Though all of the food was fantastic, I really want to spotlight the fettuccine with cream sauce and chicken. As this is one of my all time favorite dishes, I have had this prepared in so many different variations far more times than I can count, and you can take it from me that this is hands down the absolute best I've ever had. I ended the evening with the creme brulee which left me contemplating a second helping to go (though it would have been lucky to have made it to the car, much less home.)
The atmosphere and attention to small details throughout the dining area and accompanying areas made for a wonderful escape into a small world of upscale dining at prices that are extremely reasonable for the quality service and food you will be provided here. Already looking forward to the next visit!
As a point of note, reservations are required for dining, so definitely call ahead to arrange. Last minute spots are not likely, so if it's available, take it! You...
