Beautiful People! This is a must! Ok, if you’re visiting Honolulu, make time for the Halona Blowhole Lookout—this spot is a gem! It’s easy to get to, but keep an eye out for the entrance since there’s only one way in and out. If you miss it, you’ll have to drive a couple of miles to turn around, but the ocean views on the way make the extra drive worthwhile. The road winds along the cliffs, and when you come over the hill, the ocean just opens up before you—it’s a spectacular reveal!
The lookout itself is easy to navigate, with ramps and safety rails that let you get close to the blowhole. For those up for a little adventure, there’s a rock “stairway” you can climb down, which leads to a beautiful little beach area. It’s not an official path, so you’ll need to pick your way down carefully, but once you’re there, it’s like you’ve found a hidden beach paradise. It’s a perfect spot for relaxing, with waves crashing up against big rocks nearby and a view that’s totally unique to this place.
And of course, there’s the blowhole itself! When the waves hit just right, the water shoots up through the rocks in this huge, dramatic spray. The wind up top can get intense, so be sure to hold onto any loose hats. The whole experience—the waves, the view, the secluded beach—feels like a slice of Hawaiian magic.
Halona Blowhole Lookout is more than just a stop; it’s an experience. If you’re in the area, definitely make a point to visit!

You’re probably wondering why I put two stars, well let me explain and just say that this place is absolutely beautiful and worth coming to, it’s truly magical and will blow you away.
Just keep in mind that though this place is extraordinary beautiful You need to absolutely positively need to pay attention to the signs that say don’t leave valuables in your car. Today we had a break in our rental car and my bag/wallet was stolen. It is also my birthday which makes it so much better :’)
Be very careful to not leave anything remotely valuable in your car as thieves have their eyes on you especially if you are a tourist!!! They drive around making sure cops/you/people are not looking. The broken glass in the parking lot is from the number of break ins this place has.
Be weary and keep your eyes open, because my bag was under my seat and I was gone for 15 minutes and I thought I would be okay. I don’t want you to go what I went through, I want you to enjoy your time, so please be careful!!! Mahalo, and peace be with you.

Hālona Blowhole Lookout is an absolute must-visit when you’re on Oahu! The natural beauty of this spot is simply breathtaking. The blowhole itself is mesmerizing, especially when the waves are strong and you can see the water shooting high into the air—truly a marvel of nature. The views of the ocean are stunning, and you can even spot whales during the right season.
Halona Blowhole now occasionally shoots seawater up to 30 feet in the air because of waves coursing through the underwater lava tubes.
The parking can be a bit tricky as it’s a popular spot, but it’s worth the effort. Just a short walk from the parking area, you’ll be greeted with sweeping views of the coastline. Make sure to bring a camera because the photo opportunities are endless.
The site is also near the famous Eternity Beach, which you can access with a bit of a hike down. It’s a bit steep, so wear good shoes, but the secluded beach is worth it. Overall, Hālona Blowhole Lookout offers an

We found this during my research on places to stop on a drive around the island. The parking lot is decently sized and the lookout wraps around the parking lot. We think we may have seen the blowhole, but we weren’t sure, so it wasn’t obvious. It was still very scenic with the waves crashing on the rocks. There is also a small bay that it overlooks and we saw a turtle swimming there which was so cool! Please be sure to take your bags with you on your person, don’t leave anything that looks valuable in plain sight, and lock your doors. We saw a young couple who had all of their stuff taken from their car because they left it unlocked. So please be alert and aware of your surroundings. Overall it is a great place to take in some of the beauty of the island as you make your way around.
