Sandy Beach is the equivalent to Big Beach on Maui, wave-wise, though not even half as big land-wise.
THE BEACH: The sand is soft and white, the waves are usually bigger than normal which is great for boogie & body boarding. The east end is rocky and sports a shallow reef, while the west end is more sandy and swimmable. Lifeguards are on duty.
THE PARK: A big grassy field separates the beach and the highway and is popular with kite flyers.
FACILITIES: There are 2 restroom facilities at both ends of the park, and showers at the west end.
PARKING: There is a small amount of paved spots within the park, or along the highway shoulder.
TIPS: Sometimes there are food trucks and vendors selling items along the highway. My friend got some chilled, fresh lychee, $5 for a small bag.
There is hardly any shade on the beach except from a few tiny coconut trees, so bring an umbrella.
