I pretty much take all my out of town friends here when they visit. It's a bit off the beaten path and they appreciate seeing a spot that not too many people go to. I have yet to experience any complaints from the nearby homeowners in all the time I've come here, but there's a new house that's almost done being built right next to the public pathway down so hopefully that doesn't change things. But regardless, be respectful with regards to noise since you are basically in several people's backyards.
If you plan to spend more than fifteen or twenty minutes here during the day, be sure to bring some sun protection since there's no coverage to hide under. It is especially nice to come here on a night when there's a full moon; it's so bright out and just a very calming place to chill and talk story with some friends.
It's a great spot for watching sunsets and photo opportunities in general. If you're planning to jump, make sure you watch some YouTube videos to really make sure it's something you want and something you're able to do. I've never done it since I know a handful of people who have gotten injured/paralyzed(/thankfully I don't know anyone who died jumping but it has and does happen) so I can't speak from personal experience, but just make good decisions for yourself and live with whatever consequences life throws at you (or in this case, I guess the consequences that you throw yourself at). If you're not an adrenaline junkie, I think it's still an awesome place...
Read moreI was with a group that wanted to visit this place but I do not think that they fulled looked into what it was, or the information wasn't clear, I'm not sure. So to summarize, it is a dirt path off of the sidewalk between two home properties. It can be steep in some areas as it is just rock and earth that you are traversing on. Some times people had to bend down, sit, or use the fence or tree branches to help themselves down. A few of those in my group were no physically fit so they were worried and struggled going down. I would not recommend this to larger individuals or those not physical capable of doing hiking trails or steep hills. Once we got out to the cliff, it was an amazing view but that was it. You aren't safely going to be jumping off the cliff as the waves crash into the cliff side. You probably should not go into the "cave" if the tide is high at all. When I was there, the water was almost to the top of the mouth opening and when the tide would roll in, water would "spit" out of the cave opening and this was frequent. I only went so far on the ridge as there were no real rails or a path anymore, some of the rock sides were slanted and as a mostly physical fit person I did not want to attempt walking on a slanted narrow cliff and slip down so I did not attempt.
Tl;dl: Amazing view. Might be hard to get down and back up for some...

Spitting Caves, is the next stop after visiting China Walls, if I'm back for a visit. A scenic spot right before Haunama Bay, it's steep descending entrance is sandwiched between two homes on the right side of Lumahai Street. Its fairly easy to miss, and parking on this residential street is rare, especially on the weekend.
Once you make it down to the rocky area, its an amazing group or selfie photo op, for your visiting friends to snap loads of pics and send them back to their envious friends on the mainland.
You have to look east for the cave that "spits" and this blow hole is quite active when there is a swell in town. I wouldn't go near the edges, it can be very windy here, and it looks like a long fall to the water. I have no idea of how some one would get out if they fell in.
The hike back up is like a mini Stairmaster workout and will burn a few calories. If you're visiting Oahu this...
