   Read moreWe stopped by the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum last Saturday while visiting Hancock, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. My 8-year-old son is really into rocks, and this museum was perfect for him — full of fascinating displays and local history.
A big thank you to Melanie Starr, who generously took time out of her day to walk us through the exhibits. She answered all of my son’s (many!) questions so patiently, and it meant a lot to both of us. We felt very lucky to catch her while she was available.

We did a campus tour with our prospective student daughter so half the family got in free with that. MTU Student are free all the time. Young children are free and elementary children are reduced price so very reasonable for our big family. Lots of really neat gems and minerals. Shorter kids need a boost to see some items so great time to piggyback or let them rest in stroller. We spent 1.75 hours with half an hour in the gift shop but without small kids I would assume 2 hours if you don't read everything and do a...
