the TECHlink building itself is really neat because it seems small on the outside there are 30 computers badge making lots of even text editor available however, my experience with the hosts was less than stellar they repeatedly called me 'ma'am' and used gender pronouns. we are well into the 21st century it is time to use they them theirs for everyone my family does not treat me this way telling me to my face i am weak and helpless which is what gender roles imply by words other people pick up if their teachers taught them that then shame on them for refusing to be be more caring toward others i can also see a problem with the people who might be going here middle aged males are becoming problematic everywhere as they lurk around at starbucks trying to spy on people there were no other guests of the TECHLINK i don't want to be called ma'am around males i think other people lack compassion and basic respect it is not kind to tell someone they are old incapacitated and need someone else to make decisions for them the security person was really nice and told me where the closest work force solutions was only 3 blocks up the street the library hosts didn't know they were not very nice either when i mentioning working on website here and that i am a children's author they took no interest not even asking any kind of question just knowing that ma'am directed toward me upset me that they kept wanting to call me ma'am i shouldn't have to ask more than one time to not be called ma'am i am also applying to Medical Anthropology with UC Berkeley and UCSF and soon I insist on not being called ma'am anymore it will be doctor is that going to fluster some people to no end Sir is actually English comes from England and the Queen actually goes through a ceremony to knight people over there people are not automatically called sir every time they walk into a corner store
been telling everyone ab this place updating review soon tbc... the TECHlink took 2 hours to get to on the bus the library hosts could be more knowledgable gracious encouraging maybe they should hire some students from U of H or Rice the librarian staff ought to be allowed to read on the job instead of sitting at a desk waiting all day trying to look busy for people to show up the 52 bus line is across the street on Hirsch @ Weaver be prepared with food sustenance for energy if it takes this long to get to be super organized to avoid frustration also bring ID to get library card registration is...
Read moreOne of my favorite locations! This place has been the source of creativity for people everywhere in Houston who need an affordable, or free, place to grow their businesses, hobbies, and careers. An incredible resource that more people need to know about! Everyone here is friendly, knowledgeable, and the security is very kind. This is a place that is beyond just faxing and copying machines, this is a place where you can create and thrive. Would definitely recommend to homeschoolers, children and young adults, older people who would like to have a new hobby, and anyone else in between. I see people of all ages here learning and indulging in all of the technology that they offer. Please help fund the Houston public library in any way you can, whether it's in your presence, your verbal support or your financial support. I don't work for Houston public library, but if I have the opportunity I definitely...
Read moreWaste of tax dollars because this library offers nothing good to the community. They don't have librarians or people to help inside the building. They don't have a simple fax machine and they give misinformation about where a fax machine is located. They only accept credit cards so if you have a child that needs something they will need you or an adult to get it for them. This place really should be shut down because they rarely have people using all this expensive equipment. They built this tech library in the wrong area and are funding it with your tax dollars..They offer nothing to a low income community as far as basic needs copy and fax machine. They can only be accessed if you got a credit or debit card is...
