My experience with the Ashford West Post Office has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I attempted to contact the office multiple times throughout the day using my phone, my husband’s phone, and a private number, as shown in the attached call logs, but received no answer. On one occasion, someone picked up and immediately hung up. I called because a package was marked as delivered, yet nothing was in my mailbox. This is now the sixth time this year that a package has been marked delivered but never arrived. Two of those packages are still missing. One of the items was a family heirloom my aunt sent with insurance. I was told nothing could be done because the tracking showed it was delivered. Whether it was delivered to the wrong address or falsely marked as delivered is unclear. My brother also sent me something that I never received, and I only found out when he asked about it months later. I live in a residential apartment complex where extra care should be taken during delivery. It is easy for packages to be misplaced or delivered to the wrong unit, and carriers should be especially cautious in these situations. Unfortunately, that does not seem to happen. I have spoken with the manager, Justin, several times over the years, and nothing has improved. It feels like my concerns, along with the actions of the carriers, are being ignored. If someone applies for this type of job, they should be prepared to carry out the responsibilities that come with it, including properly delivering mail in multi-unit complexes. It is upsetting to deal with repeated lost packages, poor communication, and a complete lack of accountability. This level of service is unacceptable.

Update on July 22, 2023. I encountered the need to replace the key for my mailbox, so I went to the post office on July 18, 2023. I paid the fee, submitted the documents, and left a mail retention request. On July 22, I received a message that a package had arrived for me. When I went to the office, the employee told me they couldn’t find my mail retention request and asked me to fill it out again. I refused and showed them photos of the documents, proving that I had already done it four days ago. The employee seemed unwilling to communicate with me, so I asked to speak with the postal department’s supervisor - his name is Moreno. Moreno attentively listened to me and said he would resolve the issues. Thanks to Moreno for the excellent service. Update at 3:55 PM. Supervisor Moreno is a man of his word. People like him should be promoted to leadership positions, then we'll get excellent service. He did everything he said. Thank you.

One of the worst public post office I've ever dealt with. Rude personal, never greet you properly as public servants should. And if you have to wait at the side door to get your package good luck. They really do take their time and if you ring that ring longer then they want they will either ignore you or open the door and be very rude. Very unprofessional office . Forgot to mention about horrible driveway leading into their parking lot. Almost lost my wheel because pothole was covered with water. I don't think I'm asking for too much. Me like everyone else are paying our taxes to provide us with a reasonable good service. Unfortunately it is not the case with this particular government run office.

06/12/2019 0 STARS. Came in to pick up a package. There was no notice left at my door but checked online and it showed my package will be held at the post office unless I request for redelivery. I was in line waiting with 2 customers ahead of me. Already the lady (Margie) at the package door was having an attitude with the customer and they were going back and forth for a bit with the lady having a terrible tone.  Second customer is better served and done quickly.

The lady calls me up to the door and asks what I need. She's already looking at me strangely and I explain to her im trying to pick up a package and her eyes open wide like she cant believe what I just said. I continue saying that there was no notice left at my door and she steps back and looks down like she doesnt want to hear what I said and like what i  said was stupid. I then ask her what's wrong? And she just shakes her head and tells me go to the machine and print my receipt.

I get my receipt printed and come back to the door.  I hand her the receipt, I get a weird look from her and she proceeds to the back.  She returns with an annoyed tone stating that my package is back out on delivery. So i ask her how is that? It says that my package will be held until I request redelivery online. She just repeats herself and tells me it's being delivered.  So explain to her that theres no way for me to accept this package as I'll be at work every time they try to deliver my package. She then annoyingly asks SO YOU WANT ME TO TELL YOUR COURRIER TO HOLD THIS? I tell her yes.... so she asks to write down my name and number on the back of the receipt. I ask her is that all? She then grabs the receipt and loudly and annoyingly says and writes so you want us to "HOLD ONTO PARCEL." I told her yes and asked her is that all? "Yes". And so I left.

Not sure why she couldn't give decent customer service. After leaving I felt a bit of a racist vibe. As the person I mentioned she was arguing with earlierwas a certain race and as soon as I stepped to the door I already felt like she didnt want to help me, as I was the same race. I understand they probably deal with alot of people all day, every day. But they shouldn't have a piss poor attitude and be reluctant to help. Just a terrible experience.

06/13/2019 Came back in the morning after going online and requesting that my package be held at the post office, yesterday. Gave the lady (P. Kim) my slip and waited 10 minutes. I was then informed that they could not find my package and that te courier who had handled my package was not going to be in today and that person may have held onto it and only they would know where my package was??? WHY WOULD THE COURIER HOLD ON TO MY PACKAGE?! This post office is chaotic and disorganized. Now I have to come back tomorrow morning and try again. This process should not be this hard....

06/14/2019 Finally got my package. Of course it was Margie who was at the package door. Gave her my slip, she looks at the slip almost reluctant to check. Walks to the back and retrieves my package and places it on the door. I look at her making sure I don't need to sign or do anything else, and she looks at me and rudely asks. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN DO FOR YOU SIR? Maybe she's not a morning person, but she's needs to leave that stuff at home. Worse service Ive ever had. Extremely...

OH MY GOD! WHERE DO I START??? I filled out 3 change of address forms on 2/1/17 (one for my maiden name, one for my married name, and one for my husband). I moved on 2/1/17, and I know that it takes about 2-3 weeks to process, so I'm not upset about that. I received my confirmation packets around 2/10/17 at my old and new address (turned in my keys to my apartment on 2/14/17, so I was checking my old mailbox up until then. (You know those packets that have all of the coupons and stuff in there.) Anyways, so I notice that I am sill not receiving my mail, and I'm use to getting a lot of mail. I am, however, receiving mail at my new home for about 10 different people who DO NOT live with me! I called and filed a complain with the customer service center, the manager at the Whittington office, and the manager at the Park Row office. A manager at the Whittington office called me back to advise me that my mail will be forwarded soon. Here we are on 3/13/17. I only receive mail from placed I've directly changed my address from (my bank, friends, etc.) I received and email from an important company I deal with stating that they attempted to deliver mail to my (former) address, and that mail was returned back to them marked as UNDELIVERABLE. Really??? Un-freaking-delvierable? No forwarding or anything? WTentireF????????????????? I'm freaking PISSED! I can have my teenager son go in there and do a better freaking job with residents' requests! Here's the kicker- I called the manager's number directly (saved the call back in February in my phone because otherwise, you won't get through on the number posted online). I got transferred directly to my (former) postal carrier. She apologized and said she had just returned from vacation on the 14th (assuming a month ago since today is March 13th) and that she had been returning my mail because (get this) SHE HAD NO NOTATION TO FORWARD MY MAIL. Good GOD! I seriously can't with the USPS at Whittington! I can't! I'm so mad. So, where the hell is my mail???? (No offense to the carrier; it isn't her fault, I guess. It's the incompetent, lazy workers in...

insanely unhelpful employees. Tried shipping a package to japan with them and they messed up the address causing it to be returned to me and then wouldn't pay to ship it again. Cost me $150 total to get it there. Should have shipped with FedEx or UPS. There is a reason they are going bankrupt while the other 2 flourish.

UPDATE: new story! They falsely claimed to have tried to deliver a package to me twice (no door tag) and were holding my package at the post office. I tried to pick it up 2 different times and both times the guy told me he "couldn't find it" and I should "talk to my courier" which apparently I'm just supposed to know on a personal basis since he couldn't give me a phone number or anything. I called back the next day and asked to speak to a supervisor who said my package was easily visible and had been here all along. I asked him why his employee couldn't find it and he didn't have an explanation. When I went to go pick it up, the guy (same guy who couldn't find it the other 2 times) outright ignored me and started talking to the next person in line. I had to talk to the supervisor again and HE had to go get my package. When I handed the incompetent guy my ID to sign, he took more than 30 seconds to find my name on both the ID and the package and then accused me of them not matching despite them being LITERALLY IDENTICAL.

If you go to pick up a package here and an older asian man with work gloves is looking for it, just expect him to "not find it" for no real reason. In the 3 visits, I saw about 15 people go through the line and only 2 people got their package. He just constantly tells people that they need to drive around their area to find their courier and ask them where their mail is. Funniest part is, this guy likely can't be fired, no matter how bad he is.

Let it be known, the only reason USPS is still in business is because they are the only ones who can legally deliver a letter. This branch is TRULY awful and a prime example of why the USPS is bankrupt. UPS and Fedex manage to hire TEENAGERS who are more competent than the employees at this...
