While visiting Devils Tower, I enjoyed an incredible morning hike, virtue of the Red Beds Trailhead.
This hike offers many different viewpoints of Devils Tower, while serving up plenty of other scenic spots that will make your jaw drop.
From a difficulty standpoint, I’d rate this as a moderate as there was some elevation that was picked up during the course of the hike.
It wasn’t challenging to me, but I know it can be for some. My hope is with the photos and video clips added to this review, it will motivate those to do the hike and worst case scenario for those unable to do it, enjoy the beauty.
I know there is an easier trail that allows hikers to get up closer to Devils Tower, but I can’t imagine it being better than this hike.
If visiting Devils Tower later in life, I will do the other trail as a way of comparison.
One thing that made me pause a bit and deeply examine the landscape were all the trees that were down or damaged from a tornado. It made me reflect and realize that Mother Nature is quite a lady and all of the beauty in this world won’t last forever just as we won’t.

Read moreThis trail is far more fun than the tower trail, as it is far less crowded and the people you encounter will be a bit more friendly as they are hikers, and not just here for a quick 30 minute stop. There are great views on this trail of the tower and other landscapes as well. You are also far more likely to encounter wildlife on this one.
