Read moreThis asphalt trail surrounds the tower, offering excellent views of the tower and the surrounding landscape. There are benches located along the path if rest stops are desired. I saw many different animals on the loop; squirrels, chipmunks, birds, 2 deer, and a marmot that curiously watched me and the tower. I arrived at 7:15am and the parking lot was pretty empty, when I left at 9:20am the main lot was full but there's an overflow dirt lot that still had room. Read moreTower Trailhead has a decent sized parking lot with a visitor center and a restroom. I went during the COVID-19 pandemic and early in March so it was easy to park but I can imagine the parking filling up fast during normal times.
If you are a hiker and have limited time to do both, I would suggest only going up the Tower Trail far enough to get a nice clear view in the boulders area before heading back and taking the Red Beds trail around the tower.
