Here’s a heads up for parents who may want to send their child to the Dixie’s summer camp/program - be prepared to keep paying after the initial $100 cost for the camp. They will get you coming and going - literally. They charge you at the beginning for your child to go to the camp, then they charge you again at the end to see your child perform (unless you only go to one of the shows, which they were quick to point out). Let me explain. They have two performances at the end of the week, but they only “comp” a family two tickets total - not two tickets per show. They then charge you $15 per ticket plus a $5 “convenience” fee for using a credit or debit card. I know that some places charge for using a card, but they also charge for using cash. If you pay cash, they add on $3 dollars for their “convenience fee” - FOR CASH! Then they add tax on top of that, so one ticket is actually $21.95. Why not just be honest and say that the tickets are $21.95? Basically, if your child has one sibling and the parents and sibling want to support the child by being at both shows (which of course you will), then it will cost you another $80 or so depending on how you pay. Our child just finished another theater camp that did not charge parents and did not have hidden fees, so there are some out there that are more honest and...
Read moreThe Dixie is a real gem. Huntington TN has a well-kept downtown that other larger cities would do well to emulate. The Dixie is a theater for entertainment that is top notch. It is large enough to host nationally known artist yet small enough to feel personal and connected. They have a published schedule of events and are properly managed by a non-profit organization...another aspect other larger nearby cities fail to achieve. The venue is clean, and safe. The location and parking are clean and safe as well. The ENTIRE downtown court square is clean and safe. Huntington is 40 minutes drive from Jackson and it's a shame Jackson's management team won't make the trip to go see how a community can work together to produce results the citizens can be proud of. We will visit the Dixie again. Well...
Read moreMy first visit to The Dixie tonight for Crystal Gayle. She was amazing and even made me cry. I saw her in the 70’s and her voice has only improved with age. . Her band was wonderful as well. Loved the intimate feel at the Dixie. Great sound, comfortable seats, staff very friendly & helpful. My one disappointment is how many people in the audience refused to follow the No Recording rule. The lady in front of me held her phone up in the air and recorded most of the show. It was very distracting and took away from my otherwise...
