My 59 yo mother was denied service because she did not have identification. The bartender was rude and dismissive. A lot of consumers were turned away who did not have ID who were of visible legal drinking age. We were told the reason was "it's the law". Here is the drinking law in the state of IN for reference:

Indiana law requires permittees and their employees to check identification of any person under the age of 40 when conducting carryout sales. While there is no similar ID requirement law for on-premise consumption, the Excise Police encourage requiring identification from anyone appearing under 26 years of age when making sales for on-premise consumption. Acceptable forms of identification are picture ID's, including but not limited to, a driver's license, state-issued ID card, US Government identification. REMEMBER: If you still question the age of the person you should refuse to serve them.

I was excited to visit Patoka Lake winery as I live out of town and enjoy coming to visit places such as this. For a business who thrives on locals and word of mouth, the lady who treated us so poorly could stand a lesson in customer service as well as revisiting the state drinking laws. My family and I frequent places around Patoka Lake all summer long, but sadly Patoka Lake winery will no longer be...

Our son was married October 2017. We were not from the area and we began a search in the Jasper area for a place to have a rehearsal dinner for the wedding. Most of the mom and pop restaurants, of which we like to support, did not have the space for more than 30 people. We were running out of options. Having worked in the alcoholic beverage/winery industry in the Louisville I recalled they were building the new facility at Patoka Lake area. I contacted Harvey Edwards and set and appointment to view the venue and get details. Harvey is very gracious and accommodating. He and Rachel Lorett worked with a local caterer to iron out the details for us. They also found a local cleaner who we rented tablecloths from. It was a wonderful and enjoyable evening! You do have to supply your own decorations which was enjoyable for us to do for our son and his fiancé before the wedding. The wines are very good and appealed to everyone at the dinner. We would recommend PLW to anyone planning an event in the area. They have to smaller barrel rooms and then a larger room for events plus rooms available for the night. Stop by and see them and check out the wines! Many thank to Harvey and Rachel. You all...

AMAZING!!! If you're unsure whether to stay or not please do!!! Husband and I stayed in Silo suite 5 for a few nights and were amazed at the location and the friendliness of the staff! We even packed up our boat and took it with us and they didnt mind at all! They have a huge gravel lot where you can place your truck or boat! The location is amazing it is less than a mile from patoke lake you literally turn right out of the lot and BAM theres the lake! There is also a laundromat on the property, a pub restaurant which is amazing as well! Great food! We ate there multiple times! There is a gas station/mini grocery with pizza across the street along with a stand alone 24 ice station! If we knew ahead of time how great this place is we would have stayed an entire week! The prices may seem high but they aren't the silo suite was perfect for my hubby and I. There is a kitchenette with two burners a fridge and it comes with all cooking utensils you would need!!! Thank you guys for EVERYTHING!! We will DEFINITELY be coming back and sharing our experiences with everyone about this...

If you have to pick between Patoka Lake Winery and French Lick Winery, choose Patoka! I give it 10 stars. Wine tasting was $12 for 8 wines and you get to keep the glass which made me happy to have a free souvenir. My husband and I were on our last day of our honeymoon and stopped here. I did a tasting and then got a blueberry pomegranate wine slushie and bought some cigars and sat outside and enjoyed. The slushie was to die for. The atmosphere here is amazing. We bought a few bottles and one of the servers, I should have got her name, was kind enough to offer to take pictures of us outside. The service was great and we had a wonderful experience. Hopefully we can come back soon! :)

We were visiting in the area. Winery ground are well kept, clean and I appreciated the front porch sitting options. Bartender was lovely. Wine tasting was fun, $12 for 8 tastings & a glass. I would have appreciated some chairs at the tasting bar so we could relax and enjoy the experience more. Food options to go with were limited to cheeses in a cooler or prepackaged meats/deli trays from Kroger. I was a little disappointed. Would have preferred small house made charcuterie options. The food options certainly didn’t match the ambiance.

The most fun tasting guru we ran into! We started our trail at this winery and found drunken bunny pee right off the bat! As a bloody Mary lover, I tried it and it had the same spicy notes, just carrot-based instead of tomato. The owner there is not afraid to try something new and we look forward to his new creations. We bought slushies that were awesome and several bottles of wine on the sweet end of the spectrum. Highly recommended!
