Really nice trail with great nature and Irvine views. Mostly flat to start, but if you keep doing the whole loop it can get a bit steep. They have signage and have turned the trail into a one way loop to keep social distancing orders in place. The signage is pretty clear, and it gives you the option to turn and make your way back after each section of the trail. Just make sure to take enough water and wear a hat because there isn't much shade on the trail. The parking situation is not great, there are a handful of spots available. But you could park at the picnic area/park a few blocks away and just walk over to the trail head.

There is a pubic restroom near the parking lot. We went on the trail that is next to the restroom. It is very smooth and even and easy for the kids to walk on. My kids enjoy being in nature. The view is spectacular! There's plenty of bikers and hikers around for my kids to say "Hi" to. Across the street is our other favorite nature spot, Turtle Rock. It has a feel of being in the forest when we go on nature walks there. Close by is Quail Hill, our other favorite place to hike. Its as beautiful as Bommers Canyon.

The People's Republic of Irvine or whoever is in charge of this trail / open space has done a great job with maintenance and management. The trails are are in great shape. Note: a lot of this open space is closed the vast majority of the time, likely due to the richie riches in shady canyon. Pay attention to the trail statuses when planning. I parked at the Turtle Ridge Community Park to bike in, in case I got late and missed the sunset gate closure.

One of the best trails I've been on in the oc area. 1. Many trails, from and to the freeway 73 and past, to the beach ⛱️ . Loops that are 3 to 6 miles long and often traveled by walkers runners and bikers. Many switch back trails and steep up and downward paths. Parking is super clean, the cleanest I've ever been to. Grounds and entrance is an A+ location. Elder, couples parents and bikers of all ages are friendly outgoing and make the area safe and enjoyable. Park... limited to around 12 to 15 stalls; so on a busy day, if not available, just wait, and someone will eventually leave - worth the wait. Beyond that, it's a 4.5 stars and the only thing missing, would more parking or signs with more...
