The Irving Arts Center treats people based on their race. We hosted the 3rd Annual Miss Nigeria International Pageant on November 6th at the Irving Arts Center in Texas and it was a terrible mistake!!! They monitored everything we did closely including what vendors sold or exhibited at the event. They also demanded a percentage of the sales made by our vendors after they had already charged us commercial rates. The lighting was terrible for the outrageous prices they charged. Some of the so-called stage staff were nowhere to be found when we needed them. They also wanted to shut down our event when we were just one hour short of finishing because we started late. The staff were very hostile, and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone of African descent. They will do everything to overcharge and frustrate you. It’s a terrible culture of keeping Africans out of the venue. Ironically, the Mayor of IRVING is a wonderful man, and I am priviledged to have met him. He has no idea of this wicked culture that they practice at this Events Center. All in all, I am glad for the experience but there will never...

Also, the tickets were fairly affordable to the public, too. At the night of the event, getting in there was plenty of parking that is well lit and I felt secure. Going inside, the staff was visible and friendly and we were asked/directed three times to help us find our seats in the balcony. As for the seats, I don’t think there is a bad seat there… except the box seats are odd to me, they are one by one and facing away from each other. My seat in the balcony was close enough to see what was going on and unobstructed by the people in front of me.
If there is a performance happening here that you want...

A few younger people were there, everyone seemed to enjoy the entire production. Also in the lobby area was a showing of art works by a children’s book artist. This was extremely interesting, as they had a few of the books with the covers matching the original art works.Returning to the play, the stage and audience area is small, so you have a good view no matter where your...
