This out of the way trail up to the main cougar mtn trails from may valley is a real joy to hike. Despite being surrounded by housing, you'd think you are alone in the middle of wilderness. Although all of cougar mtn was heavily logged over 100 years ago, this section of forest appears to have only been cut once. Lots of huge western red cedar, with some approaching old growth size. The forest appears to be very healthy with lots of moss and native understory ferns and shrubs. It is some of the best restored forest on cougar mtn. I'm not actually sure if we finished the route because the signage wasn't great past where you have to cross a road.
