I want to leave a review to be helpful to people who would be misled by the perfect 5 star rating. To the locals who love this place and gave 5 stars, good for you supporting local business. Now on to the helpful bit. This is not a winery. It is a vineyard, that’s about it. It’s counter service which was apparently implied but not clearly communicated as we were told to take a seat wherever. After sitting at a table for 5-10 minutes we realized, he wasn’t coming to our table. The guy behind the counter does not explain anything about the wines. He says you can pick any 4 and if you ask for recommendations, he points and taps his finger on the menu. You make your selections and go back to your seat. He brings you a board with 4 shot glasses containing wine and some wine glasses. He tells you left to right matches the card you filled out. You pour the shot glasses into your wine glass, take a sip, and quickly pour the wine back in the shot glass. The whites are sweet and not complex. The red blend was ok, but the single varietal was flavorless. We had no idea if the wines were opened that day or if the rubber stopper had been in the bottle for weeks. I don’t want to discourage anyone from trying this place or daisy creek wines, I just want you to know this is not a 5 star wine tasting experience. It is as close to a 1 star wine tasting experience as I have had, so I think the rating is fair. I hope this helps people make the right decision when looking for somewhere to spend their anniversary or plan a wine tasting trip. I also hope this helps the business improve the tasting experience and hopefully sell more...
Read moreThis was our absolute favorite vineyard during our visit to the Southern Oregon wine region. We loved the wines, the vineyard dogs, the owners (Russ and Margaret) and unpretentious / inclusive atmosphere. Beautiful property and a favorite of the locals / nearby neighbors. Reasonably priced wines. Highly recommend the Lyon Red, Merlot Reserve, Petite Veridot, Malbec and Syrah (we are red wine drinkers so we didn't try the whites).
Looking forward to returning for their next wine club (despite the long haul from SF). It is well worth the drive! Call ahead since the tasting room is only open from May - October. Ask for Wendy if Russ or Margaret are...
Read moreFirst off, I'm not a local (from the Midwest) but am visiting the area for a weekend. We had a very nice time visiting Daisy Creek Vineyard as the 5th stop on our weekend tour. Gary was extremely nice and we enjoyed our discussion with him about the history of the vineyard and wines. Not a huge list of wines, but that's perfectly fine. Quality over quantity, and those they were pouring were excellent and as good as, or better than most other wines tasted this weekend. The shaded outdoor seating is awesome and provides a great atmosphere to just hang out. If I was a local, this would be one of my go-to hang out places. Stop in and...
