Road-trip-worthy fun! I did both their single-boated kayaking and their wonderful little history-themed mini-golf.
For years I've been looking for a solid place to kayak in Morris County, as I've never tried it before. The young folks who worked the place (seems like local students) were all extremely helpful. The front-desk folks checked me in at 11:30ish and Rachel was our kayaking instructor/tour guide at 12 PM. Although it was my first time, she made me feel safe and confident to figure it out on my own. The route was beautiful, with only a couple waves at the start and then the water was calm. She provided fascinating information about the lake (historical, natural, and cultural). We saw many stately homes, islands, as well as ducks, a swan, and a heron! Before, during, and after the trip, Rachel went above and beyond to ensure a great tourist experience - helping allocate sunscreen when I forgot mine, and offering to take pictures of us, both in the boat and on the docks!
Rates are $40something for a half-hour and I believe $70something for an hour. Definitely aim to get there a half-hour early and hang out, because I once arrived at 4:54 hoping for the 5PM and they had already closed up shop.
Also, MINI GOLF WAS FUN! I think it was 18 holes mostly par 1-3, and about 5 of these contained little models of historic buildings, such as the Windlass's original tavern from the 19th century(?), a local 1925 roller coaster, and the Lake Hopatcong dam. They had little plaques about the history of each structure, with 2 historic photographs and a paragraph's writeup about it. It was great and educational, a fun way to get acquainted with Lake Hopatcong history in a sunny setting. I hope, over the years, they add further little historical details and fun facts to the course.
Turns out they opened 10ish years back. Can't imagine how out-of-towners could enjoy the beauty of the largest lake in New Jersey without this iconic place! I hope to kayak a different time and also depart from their dock for a future Miss Lotta trip.
Again, a really fantastic place to visit. I had a great day! Great job adventure team and...

The lake was very calm and peaceful during our 10am tour, which made for a great ride. It may seem very intimidating at first to get on the bike, however the staff are very attentive and helpful. Once you are on, it’s fairly easy to maneuver the bike. Just a warning, you will get a good workout in with this tour (especially the 1 hour tour) but it really is very fun!!
I suggest wearing water shoes since there’s a chance your feet may get wet. It can be breezy in the morning, so bring a jacket and wear SPF! The bikes have water bottle holders and a compartment to fit a small bag. Life vests are also provided.
I highly recommend booking a tour, and would love to return to try the...

The guides are truly the heart of this place. They were so sweet, always ensuring we were comfortable and having a good time. They expertly navigated us through the waters, helping us appreciate the beauty of the lake in a whole new way. Their knowledge of the area was an added bonus - they gave us fantastic suggestions for local restaurants and other activities to try, which we appreciated as it made our trip even more enriching.
If you're planning a visit to the area, I wholeheartedly recommend adding a kayaking trip with Lake Hopatcong Adventure Company to...
