Just came back from a super disappointing experience at LM. As a few other reviewers have posted, Steve, the owner of this establishment is not fit to interact with fellow human beings. To start, we had a lot of trouble booking our tubing session because of Steve's indifference. I called, and he responded with a text. I texted back, and he told me the only way to book was via phone. It was comical! Finally we got onto the schedule. When I asked about inclement weather, Steve told me that they'd only had 1 rain day all summer, and that Lake Hopatcong has its own weather and it never rains. If, by chance it did, Steve would call us before our appointment. We awoke this morning and checked the weather. Just a 10% chance of rain. Seemed fine, especially because Steve didn't call. We excitedly hopped into the car, and with 6 kids in tow, arrived on time. We were very surprised that the kind young guy at the desk was surprised to see us. When he woke Steve up, after a few minutes it all came back: Steve had booked us for this morning! Whoops. It was acknowledged that our booking had fallen through the cracks. A few phone calls were made and a different but equally gracious young man came to take us out. It was now 9:50. By 10, preparations were made, but the rain was starting to come down harder. We again checked the weather, and it appeared that it would pass quickly. However, the instructor had a lot of hesitations about getting on the boat. He showed us the weather radar, which painted a different picture, and was justified. This young man was very apologetic and attempted to be as helpful as he could be under the circumstances. Standing in the rain with our deflated 6 kids who had been looking forward to tubing for the last two weeks, we decided to follow the advice of the instructor and get back into the car. Shortly thereafter, we received a call from a likely hung over Steve. He was aggressively shouting and completely revisionist, lying throughout the call. He claimed all kinds of things, using expletives to leave no doubt that he is mentally compromised. He made sure to tell me that I should never come back. Apparently not a person who can take ownership of his missteps, Steve is the kind of guy you just don't want to have...
Read moreI am a customer for wakesurfing with Lakeview marina since last summer. Almost three weeks ago, me and my friend booked 7-9 am and went there waiting for one hour and no one showed up. We two girls felt upset. They compensated us for an extra two hours. Today, this morning, the same thing happened again. We woke up at 5am and drove here and we booked one week ahead of time. (Also it is really difficult to get through their phones to book if you call Steve or their official number). No one showed up. Only Steve because he lived here. First of all, he couldn’t manage his emotions well and kept saying and blaming things were not his fault (however it is his company, not mine). As a customer, I paid full amount and booked and came here on time, but no one showed up. We waited for another one hour here in the morning from 7-8 am. I tried so many times to clearly explain to Steve that we need compensation to make up for your time and make sure this kind of thing would never happened again. However, it was so difficult to communicate with him as he didn’t listen to me at all. He kept saying he had earned millions of dollars in his business in the last 10 weeks (did a quick calculation here it means they earn $1,500/hour pre tax revenue here) and 99.9% people were satisfied with this company, I was the only 0.1% not satisfied. Interesting. I showed up on time and paid in full amount but no one showed up and how could I be satisfied especially this happened two times? And I didn’t care how much you earned and it had nothing to do with things happened to me. He yelled at me and my friends (all girls) and slammed the door several times, tho I am not sure where his anger came from. Even if he was angry about his staff, it was also the mismanagement issue from the boss (Steve himself). For fear of my personal safety, I called 911 and the police officer came in a minute. Unfortunately, he left to the gas station and even till now we heard no explanation from him. I do suggest that people should be careful about choosing what you want. There are so many places for summer water sports in New Jersey. And I think people come here for fun, not for...
Read moreLakeview Marina is the most poorly run business I've ever come across. They have no sense of customer service and are so rude and demeaning. I called this business and left messages 5 times and sent an email before getting a response from Steve. When I spoke to him, we discussed pontoon boat rentals which he told me required reservations and speed boat rentals which did not require reservations. I had given him the day and time we wanted the speed boat and he said it should not be a problem. Given it was a long weekend, I was getting a little nervous and wanted to confirm. I called and left three additional messages and 1 email. No response. So we decided to head over on the given day along with another family and were greeted very rudely by Jack. He told us he was the manager, and that we were lying and trying to weasel our way in to one of his boats. I was with my two young children and was just shocked by his behavior. When we told him the series of events, the voicemail messages, the emails and the conversation with Steve he said they never check email or answer messages and "what did he want us to do? Pull a boat out of his *ss?" I've never dealt with a business that is so disrespectful to it customers. I don't care if they are the only place on the lake that does water sports, I would never give my business to people with zero ethics like Lakeview Marina. I'd actually give this...
