This park is a hidden gem! I would drive past it every day on my way to work but never stopped here until today. I was out for a walk at my usual park in Cypress, but the heat was unbearable, especially because it has younger trees, which means less shade, so I left after only walking 2 miles. I figured I would try out this park given that the walking trail runs through a wooded area. It turned out to be perfect! The trail is .75 miles in length from the parking lot on Hargrave Rd. to the endpoint just shy of Cypresswood Rd. It also runs past the Fallen Warriors Memorial, which makes for a nice resting spot while you pay your respects. Most of the trail is wooded, so you get to see some wildlife along the way (mostly squirrels and cardinals). And there were only a couple of other folks out on the trail, so it felt very calm and peaceful. Now I'm not usually a fan of wooded trails due to safety concerns since I am a woman and am typically out by myself, but the path is close enough to a busy street that you don't feel completely isolated. The park also has a small playground for the kids, a little free library stand, and multiple water fountains along the walking trail. (Also, keep in mind that no bicycles are allowed here, presumably due to the loose gravel as others have stated; also, there are no restrooms, which is fine by me since I try to avoid public restrooms as much as possible anyway). All in all, I was able to comfortably walk an additional 2.5 miles for the day by circling the trail a few times. I will still stick to my other park when it comes to long distance running/walking, but this is a very nice alternative when you're looking to get a quick workout in and...

Nice walking trail, it gets a little creepy when you walk through the area that connects to the fallen warriors memorial because the path runs behind a wall away from street vision. It honestly just makes me pay more attention to my surroundings but it runs back around to street view after about 50 steps. There are cameras in that area and typically in the morning there are other walking so it’s not too bad.
It looks like the park is expanding across the street, there is a lot of construction happening. Looking forward to seeing the overall...
Read moreDecent waking trail. It's partially paved and mostly gravel. There are shaded areas which help on sunny and hot days. I noticed two small parking lots. Both lots had about 15 spaces with disabled parking as well. There are video cameras for your safety, however, because there's a lot of shade it gets dark quickly. There's a small playground for children and tables with benches. There are also bike racks, water fountains, and a Fallen Soldiers Memorial. The trail markers show the distance of your walk. Bikes are not allowed on the walking trail (probably because of the loose gravel - could...
