We chose to do the tour with a guide and felt that made all the difference. The guide was very informative and had answers to all of our questions. I will say that it was hard to hear her talk as we were walking from building to building as she was in front of us so we were looking at the back of her head. If I could make a suggestion, it would be that the guides maybe wear a microphone or do something so that everyone can hear all the information. Other than that, it was very interesting since we are descendants of Col. John Tipton. Also, his burial site is neat to visit as well. The location on google maps isn't marked correctly. It is actually on Arroyo Dr. You...

We loved this Historic Site. We had the guided tour. Emily was the tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and professional. And, it was a lot of information to retain and share with others. She answered all the extra questions we had. It was beautiful and everything was kept in great condition. It was a very warm day and I didn't take any photos.. But I will not forget how amazing the home, lawyer office and the cabin looked, especially the original items that were in them. The grounds were beautiful. Thank you, Emily for sharing your knowledge about the Tipton-Haynes...

The Halloween event was a little disappointing but that's partly my fault. The event was from 2-6pm and we didn't get there until 4:45. They had really cute kid friendly crafts which were great. But there was suppose to be storytelling and there wasn't. So we went to ride the hayride and it they said it had broken down. Stuff happens so that's not really there fault. Everyone there was really nice and I appreciate them taking the time to put on the event. It was kinda windy so we didn't walk around the whole property. But I'm sure we'll visit again...

I took my kids today! Ages 9, 7, and 5, we all had a good time. The exhibit in the main building was excellent, a great showing of our state's history. The self guided tour was nice, it'll be nice to hear a guided tour when we go again. The cave was a fun surprise and exciting to explore! (Quite small) And fun to see which of my kids were afraid of the cave and which wanted to explore more. We found out afterwards there were flashlights available to borrow in the lobby! Looking forward to going again!

This place was very interesting. Col. Jonathan Tipton is my husband's 6th Great Grandfather so it was cool to see where he lived. Emily was an awesome tour guide & we learned a lot about the history of the place & the Franklin Battle that happened at this site. We walked down to the cave but didn't go too far into it. We also drove through Cades Cove loop the next day & visited the Tipton cabin there. It was great to see too. We got to see a Mama Bear & her 2 cubs while we were stopped there.
