It had been years since I tried to play with clay and it was just after COVID when I happened upon Aleta and Art Curious... She had a Facebook event for making platters and bowls. I signed up and was thrilled with the pieces I made. Almost immediately, and continually I started going to Art Curious regularly.
I cannot get over how well guided I was in the class I signed up for. (And by the way, classes are usually small. Usually two to four people... maybe six on certain small items). Anyway , the studio has every, and I mean every tool a potter could possibly want... For both hand building as well as wheel throwing... Though really, you Will get a lot of gorgeous work accomplished if you don't have an extraordinarily clear-communicating and enjoyable person to learn from. Aleta was & has been both. Not only as an instructor for a 'newbie', but also as a helper for someone that has been doing this for a few years as I have been now.
Over the course of the last few years I learned that Aleta has a couple art degrees and has an amazing reputation for her skills and artistry. But what is cool is how sincere she is about the art, while also, genuinely, caring you're enjoying the process as you learn about it. Though I am at a point where I mostly work at the studio independently, I usually come across something that is challenging to me. When I ask for more tutelage, Aleta is as helpful as ever.
I think the prices are exceptionally fair. The location is exquisite --as it's relatively simple to get to. There's plenty of parking. There's plenty of space inside the studio. The studio equipment is well maintained and as I said previously, there's really nothing you cannot make in the pottery realm at the studio. Our planet needs more...

Read moreI highly recommend taking classes at ArtCurious Studio with Aleta if you are interested in learning pottery and having a great teacher! I started with a bowl, spoon and tray hand-building class and then I did a 6 week beginner's pottery class with the wheel. Aleta is great at teaching and being patient while allowing you to have your own creative ideas! For the price you pay, it is well worth it as it includes instruction from an amazing potter, multiple pieces you can use, glazing, and kiln firing. I had never done pottery before taking her classes and have made great progress throughout the weeks! She even taught me more advanced forms such as a pot with a lid! Pottery is a great skill to have and also anxiety relieving. I have included some pictures of my creations throughout the classes! I have a few more pieces to glaze, and it is always fun to see what comes out of the kiln! Try...
